i would like a killdry setting for the external input .
tonight i was playing with a band and i processed the keyboardist sound as well as the snare .
it would be nice if i could cut out the dry signal i got from them , by adding either a kill dry function or by a pre-fader fx send option in the EXT. IN menu .
or is there already a way to do this ?
Not sure i understand, but you would like to be able to have a wet signal and then instantly switch to a dry signal on the external inputs? You could do that with a pattern switch.
Doable via cc levels as a bit of a workaround. Eg level 0 > level 100 toggle on an external midi box
not exactly , i would like to be able to have the ““wet signal only”” from the sound coming in the “ext. in” . i don’t want the dry . the problem is, if i turn down the volume of the external input , the fx send are turned down also . like a post-fader aux send on a mixer .
i would like to be able to turn down the “external in” volume that sends the input to the master but still be able to send it trough the FX and ear the processed sound .
in the external input menu you have volume control for the “ext. in” as well as panning and effects sends for the three onboard effects . these effect sends are the equivalent of “post fader” aux sends on a mixer . if they could behave optionally as pre-fader aux sends . i could get the processed sound without the dry sound .
actually , this could also be interesting as an option for the internal synth tracks in the fx send menu .
i’m a sucker for pre-fader aux sends . it gives you the possibility to have only the processed sound without the dry sounds. i love to use that for example for intros or for endings .
also its essential to get rid of the dry signal when you use a device as a processor wired to the aux send of a mixer . thats what i have been doing with my friends , we are all plugged in the main mixer and i use the aux sends to process their sound in the a4 . it was amazing but then itheir dry signal is doubled and can cause phase or volume problems. its way cleaner not to double their dry signal and just add the proceed signal to the mix .
as a work around i actually cut their original sound from the mixer . so that the only sound we ear from them comes through the a4 dry and wet . gives me too much power though but was really interesting . it was like having my buddy’s in my a4 and gave me an idea for a minimal band setup where the A4 is the main mixer for everything .

I’m the exact same way. I’d love to have it for the internal tracks as well, a dry/wet control would be fantastic.
Resurrecting this thread because I’m wondering if Overbridge will enable this, i.e., sending audio to the FX without the dry signal coming through, using the A4 as an effect send? Can’t see how to do this with the current audio routing.
A huge +1 from me. I would love it if it were possible to implement dry/wet, or even a “send mode” switch so the external inputs could be used in this manner. I wonder if this is possible with a firmware update, or not due to hardware limitations?

I’m looking to route the aux send of my mixer to the ext in of the a4 too. I know you will also have the dry signal if you send the external input via the fx page, but if you are just using an a4 voice, setting the osc to external and sending to fx, by removing the voice from main out you should only have the wet signal right ?
Of course you loose one of the four voices but sometimes you don’t need them all.
This works as described and it’s a neat handy workaround - two voices buys you a stereo wet return although you can use the two oscillators on one track to merge L/R inputs through the track filter
