How much effect does parameter C1 have on your ride engine?

I’m trying to diagnose a possible fault on my newly acquired RYTM.

On the CY Ride engine I notice absolutely no effect on the sound while tweaking the C1 parameter. C2 and C3 seem normal. I just find it hard to believe that it could be so specific of a fault as none of the other sounds seem effected as far as I can tell. I notice the same behavior when I load the CY Ride engine on either the CY 11 or CB 12 track.

I’ve made sure to let it sit idle for over three hours and have calibrated it several times after updating. I’ve reflashed the 1.30C update a few times. I’ve loaded the ride after an empty reset and there are no errors on the test mode.

Kindly let me know if your C1 parameter effects the ride sound in a obvious way. Thanks.

C1 is definitely evident when working, especially if the C2 & C3 values are dialed way back, Type C is most audible, C1 is brief and can be overwhelmed by C2/3 elements

C123 is a little mixer of aspects of the sound, if you’re not getting anything, nor anything increasing in level, then it’s not looking good, keep in mind it is a short initial element, so default fast envelopes etc

The monopolar ramp envelope is configured to take a bar from min to max if the factor of rate and speed is 64, happy to listen to an audio demo and compare, if you set C1,2&3 to minimum then ramp up just the C1 level with a free LFO p-locked to restart on trig 1 of a 16 step sequence of trigs for RideC

It definitely sounds like you have a genuine issue tbh, but in case it’s perhaps expectation of a greater variance then it doesn’t do any harm to try - if I remember tomorrow I’ll link a file detailing the C1 range I get min to max, but if you’re getting nothing in terms of level variation or sound, it sounds like something’s amiss !

Keep us posted on :3lektron:support’s ideas about this, curious now

Thanks man, I’ll post an example tomorrow. Appreciate the help.

A wav file of the zero to max progression of the C1 parameter for the four ride types (a-d) is hosted on this expiring link (download only)

Cleared Pattern / Cleared Kit / Loaded Ride to Tr11 / 30bpm
Free LFO Ramp / destination C1 / Lfo rate factor 64 (e.g. Sp4Mul16)
Restart LFO on Trig1 only (P-Lock LFO toggle on Trig page or P-Lock Trg on LFO page)

C1 2 3 all 0 / Tune Hit Decay all 64

It’s subtly mixing in a transient element as is visibly more evident here

the ride is awesome.

Yep, we know, and you said as much in your own recent thread

Let’s [for posts detailing very specific concerns] focus on helping the OP out with relevant responses and insights and keep it on topic

Well, my C1 is certainly not doing what yours does. I’d record it but it does nothing so it must be faulty. So odd that it’s the only thing that appears to be wrong with the unit. Oh well. Still waiting for a response from HQ support, but I’ve asked for a exchange auth from where I bought it. Hoping that goes smooth. Thanks for helping avantronica.

hopefully you’ll hear back tomorrow when business hours resume, keep us posted on what’s behind this, strange indeed !!

Don’t expect any answers tomorrow, Swedens national day. Big holliday!
