I wanted to be used for when we’re naming anything, so common words like Kick, Snare, Intro…ect, could be pasted with a pad to make for the lack of copying & pasting text & just to speed up the workflow.
I asked on Mockba Mod Discord page about a month ago. I never even downloaded the OS yet, but I try to keep up with it. I’ll get it after I’m done with moving my old music to the Force which should this month.
Yes I was going to post it but you bet me to it. Thanks looking out for us Force users. I’ll probably post it on the MPC page since many may want to know just in case they’re thinking about getting the Force or had, but got rid of it because it lack features like this.
To be fair, hacking hardware that other companies already made and released is chump work that anyone can do with zero overhead. They don’t have shareholders or corporate overlords breathing down their back, requiring them to constantly generate revenue to keep selling more units. Hackers literally do this in their free time for fun, with no one expecting anything. But they all have other jobs that pay their bills (or live at home with their parents), so it’s not fair at all to hold Akai or any other company to the same standard.
And don’t think for a second that Akai/Inmusic are sitting on their laurels - I guarantee you that they are working on OS updates right now, at this very moment. But they also have to do stuff that keeps bringing in revenue, so selling Expansions and optional plugins is obviously a way to do that. Hackers don’t. They are beholden to no one, because they didn’t do the work to get the hardware made, and they didn’t do the work to write a 100% unique operating system from the ground up - they just took what Akai devs spent years coding and took it from there.
@ HisNameIsAlive
No shit!
That’s still not excuse for the lack of certain features that should be there by now. I didn’t think I needed to state that, but there you go.
Also, I don’t think Akai isn’t making progress. I heard there’s a big update coming in the Spring, but damn, why we gotta get a OS mod just to automate rows for a 5 year old device, did the corporate overlords think it hurt sells?
Why shit on the work that others do for free for a device that’s not even popular? I never said their OS took more work than than Akai’s, so I don’t know why you said all that. Do you have better OS Mod?
Just me having fun & practicing my crossfader skills!
Bad audio - good performance.
1:18 - Two-hand scratching.
1:51 - Scratching without the crossfader cap.
2:53 - Two hand scratching without the crossfader cap.
Drums & synth sounds all from the RS7000, plus its own FXs. The Force provides 3 FXs & the crossfader.
From the description:
Info about this Track: “Alarm Clock”
This is a beat first made on the Yamaha RS7000 on 2018/01/23. It was cool but meh. It still had some good elements that needed to worked on. This is me taking a break from the tedious job of transferring all my old beats from different machines into the Force to later take the best from each & make an album from them.
This beat didn’t make the cut at first for the RS album…Now after tweaking it on the Force via it macros like the crossfader its way better. Now when I come back to it later I can tell it will be amazing! This is just a sketch at this point. The composition needs to be developed more.
I’m not a DJ nor have any real experience with scratching records. Always learning tho!
Goofs:#1- Excuse the bad audio from the camera (G9). I ran the signal too hot, but I liked the performance, so here we are. I’ll upload a better sounding version of this sketch later. This is good enough for what it is - a crossfader practice jam.
#2- I didn’t record the crossfader automation on the Force, so this video is the only way I got this performance.
I never suggested it was an excuse for missing features (that some people want) - I was addressing the ridiculous comparison that hackers are offering more “value” by hacking the existing firmware when Akai are offering optional paid Expansions for the plugins. Hackers are getting a 100% free ride off of the backs of Akai and don’t have to worry about keeping the lights on. Akai do.
why we gotta get a OS mod just to automate rows for a 5 year old device, did the corporate overlords think it hurt sells?
I’m not sure why I need to spell this out, but here goes: hacking the firmware gets people more than just features that some people want - hackers have also been unlocking and illegally accessing paid plugins, which does not help Akai one bit. Not to mention:
Why shit on the work that others do for free for a device that’s not even popular?
I just told you why. And what makes you think it’s “not even popular”? Lmao… do you have actual sales stats? Because they keep making them and keep selling them, so clearly it’s popular enough to warrant keeping it in production.
Do you have better OS Mod?
I don’t hack firmware. I don’t have time for that, nor do I have the technical knowhow. Not sure what gave you that idea. I also prefer to support the actual company that made it so we keep getting proper updates that are officially supported. But you do you, man.
I don’t think this is a thing, I follow all the mod pages because it’s cool to see what people do with it but I’ve not seen a thing about someone cracking mpc plugins
When I said “adding more value” I meant that the Mockba OS was adding more features on top of what Akai offers. Maybe extra value would’ve been the better word. Sorry for the confusion.
I never said anything about getting free plugins being the reason why I like the hacked OS, but that’s not addressing my point about certain features aren’t there which is why the hacks exist. I don’t even know if Mockba even has free plugins. I support them buying them, so we’re on the same page on that.
You really think the Force is popular? I think don’t think so. I do think that it’s one of Akai’s best selling based on units made, but I think that they didn’t make as many units. Meaning, let’s say they made 50,000 MPC One’s & sold 40,000 & made 10,000 Force’s but sold 10,000.
Even if it is popular, that’s no reason to hate on the makers of Mockba taking time & energy to add features to this already amazing device for free.
I ask this because it real easy to shit on the work of others when you never did it what they did or lack the capability. But do you. Also, You can support both. Even if they offer free paid plugins, you can still buy them from Akai & use the hack OS.
They made a 49 min video:
An overview and installation tutorial of the 2024 version of the MockbaMod Firmware for the Akai Force. MockbaMod for the Akai Force is a powerful modded firmware that adds the following features: Scene automation (follow actions) - Allows the implementation of an automation track which launches scenes automatically, so the Force can be used as a hands-off accompaniment device. Foot controller support - The Automation feature also allows external midi controllers to automatically trigger buttons in the padboard. Perfect for guitarists. Hidden screen access - Allows access to some screens of the MPC KEY 61 which are hidden in the Force firmeware. Added functionality. Multi boot - Allows the selection of older (to some extent) formware upon starting a project. This helps test things in older versions of the firmware without reflashing the unit. SSH/SFTP Access - This adds remote filesystem access to the Force, which is great for copying files to and from the unit without having to move USB devices or SD cards back and forth. Custom Arpeggios - Filesystem access allows modification/addition of arpeggio files. Tempo Automation - Both Absolute and Relative Tempo Automation Support (Beta). AddOn manager - Allows managing addons installed on the device. Run the command addon-manager in Mac/Linux Terminal or Putty (windows) Multiple AddOns - MockbaMod supports multiple addons, listed below: PushLua - Implements native support to the Push 1 as an additional padboard for the Force for playing notes, drums, etc. with no computer needed. DropSeq - Implements a Special Drop,Weight based 4 Track Midi Sequencer. Euclidier - Implements a headless 8 Track Euclidean sequencer for Akai Force. SoX - SoX (Sound eXchange) is the Swiss Army knife of sound processing tools. dxSEX - CC to Sysex Converter for DX7, VolcaFM, Dexed for Akai Force. NodeServer - Implements a Web Application Server for Akai Force Hosting many Apps. CustomBufferSize - ALSA Api Middleware To Allow Custom Period/Buffer Sizes. CustomArpPatterns - This AddOn allows you to easily add your own midi files as arp patterns. emmcRepair - A Tool to Repair corruption of internal emmc that does happen from time to time. VNCServer - Stream Force Screen to your Desktop/Phone Vnc Client (touch/mouse supported). SoundBrowserUI - Custom UI Skin For Sound Browser (Dark / Better Contrast). MidiLoop - Implements the automation functionality plus command macros, key combos, screenshots, video capture, midi interface blocklist. (MidiLoop is always installed by default) MPC FX Racks - MPC Fx Rack Presets For Akai Force (Not Supplied with Force)

My point was - Force is clearly popular enough for Akai to keep manufacturing units, actively selling it still, and actively supporting it (and yes, they are absolutely planning a firmware update). Is it as popular as the MPC? Of course not (I never suggested it was, and I realize you are not suggesting that either).
I’m not hating on hackers. I’m clearly stating that for hackers to add whatever features they can hack in and out of the firmware - that in itself cannot be held to the same standard as Akai releasing optional paid Expansions as you suggested here:
I mean, that seems disingenuous, Poetic-Noise.
Again, not shitting on hackers. I’m rightfully pointing out that they are standing on the shoulders of giants to add features and they have ZERO responsibility to generate revenue. Akai does not have that luxury. Hence, optional paid Expansions for the time being (and likely some new optional paid plugins for 2024, mark my words).
God no - I don’t have time to watch a 49 minute video for something that I’d never use LOL!
So can you use your paid/licensed plugins on the hacked firmware? Just curious. Because if you can, the hackers have circumvented Akai’s license protection and that’s not only troubling, it’s illegal in most countries. If you can’t, then hacked software is useless to me.
OK whatever you say. Anyway I don’t mind Akai charging for stuff - they got bills. That’s still no reason why we have to get certain features for hackers like clip follow for a 5 year old device. The hack even gives a way to repair corruption of internal EMMC & custom buffer sizes for to help with audio interfaces with clicks & pops. Yes you can still use the paid plugs on the video they even got some option to rename Jura to Juno LOL.
But since your never gonna get lets end this convo. Peace!
Wow, that’s an impressive set of upgrades. I have a feeling that even if Akai discontinues the Force tomorrow, it will keep getting third party upgrades and improvements for years.
