Analog FOUR filter freq values for deep bass

Howdy

A couple of points come to mind, whilst i am not sure what your end usage case will be in practice, i wonder if you realise a few things that may help

Firstly, the filter frequency is 14bit resolution, so for every ‘step’ you have noted above there is an extra resolution of 127 steps - so quoting ‘rounded’ freq values is not allowing much precision

Secondly, the filters can be KeyTracked so setting one value will mean teh filter freq follows (not so great on the ladder, but if used it could be serviceable for your needs over a short range) and for the peak (filter 2) the tracking is decent- set Tracking to 100% i.e. 32

Then tune the filter freq against the osc pitch however you like and keep in mind that (assiming iirc you have NRPN enabled) the resolution will be there between integer steps - the HighPass is useful in this role too

I don’t ever recall having issues getting a broad range of serviceable resonant tones from the Mark 1 with its variable filter (Filter 2) (Filter 1, the ladder has a very narrow usable tracking range by comparison) Fwiw - I can play 6 octaves of very usable tracked filter resonance on the Mk2 and that was my recollection on the Mk 1 as well - you get at best a jazzy 3 or 4 from the ladder by comparison

A4 deep bass tips?

Just wondering if any of you guys have any good tips for how to do strong and deep bass sounds. As an example: I have a Monotribe that’s really good for doing just that if you just crank the filters resonance and turn down the cutoff. I’m just not sure if it’s a limitation of the A4’s capacity to actually make that good old bass I want or if it’s me. Who is to blame? And will Elektrons next machine be named “Analog Bass”? Who knows, anyway…
