there’s so much about this bike that warms my retrogrouch soul: steel frame AND fork. friction shifters. canti brakes. big tan-sidewall tires. brooks-style saddle. it’s got it all!

Definitely prefer pointing it downhill to going uphill.

That is why I got the EMB, uphill as much fun as downhill now

My trusty Nicolai NC-1

Best Cargobike I’ve had so far. All the bells and whistles: Gates carbon drive, speedhub14, airline-rails for fixing stuff, 2x750Wh batteries, bike yoke to adjust saddle height whilst driving.

Some really inspiring bike images in here. Also enlightening…. I had never seen a cargo bike before this thread…

Here’s a couple of my favs:

Carbon fixed gear track bike for general fitness, fun, etc…

For when I’m feeling like if ya ain’t first ya last and all I want is for you to see my natural black ass lol💨 … Felt AR

lol, where do you live? Eleven years ago, when I had my Bullit just new, I was like except for hardcore bike messengers the only one.
Today, like every 20th bike in Berlin is a Cargobike or Lazykids-Taxi, which is great bc less cars.

Yeah, you see them in the Netherlands quite often too. Like the Bakfiets, for example.

I’ve never ridden one though. Does it take a while to adjust to balancing and steering such a large bike?

If there’s a steering damper, it it like a normal bike after a week.
If not, totally different.

I can drive my NC-1 freehand for minutes, but took some practice.

Is that Mt Tabor park and Mt Hood??

Definitely the dream, but I wouldn’t want to take an eeb to bike parks, and can’t really afford two bikes (and to have one just for parks) atm.

Dad goals!:joy: :fire:. Man, I wish I had that back in 98 when my daughter was an infant. I was a 19 year old kid dad with plenty energy in NyC. We would have been everywhere.

These days I spend most of my time down in South Florida. Tons of cyclist but still haven’t seen a cargo bike. I’m sure now that I know it’s a thing I may see one at some point but overall, probably too hot for hauling down here.

How heavy are they? Nimble enough for whipping in and out of city traffic?

Commuting daily since 2007 - 2/3 of current bikes: custom build on LeMond Buenos Aires frame & Cinelli Gazzetta a.k.a Gazeta Codzienna - my daily bike. I do 10k one way to work. 3rd one is single speed hardtail Trek from … 1996 I think - winter bike. Stay safe - always wear a helmet 🪖!

Weight depends. I’ve seen modded Bullits with 18kg, easily handable, but they are pretty long so cumbersome to carry.
My NC-1 comes to 38kg. And bikes that size are prohibited in the sub, but there is a change happening the last years. On S-Bahn (like Sub but other provider) they are allowed, but not during commute times. No need for that, I go up to 45km/h easily and like biking, so no train for me except we go as a family on a ride in Brandenburg or farer any.

Mt. Hood, yes! The first pic of it is from Sherrard Point on Larch Mountain, and the second is from Council Crest. Though I like to ride Tabor as well.
