I have a Minibrute 2S, but for some reason it’s never really settled into place for me. The sequencer is very flexible and fully-featured, and it offers a lot of modular capabilities, but the internal sounds have just never grabbed me. Whenever I play around with it I always seem to end up hooking the sequencer to an external device and preferring those results. It’s personal taste, obviously, but there just doesn’t seem to be much character to the 2S.
I don’t have a BS2, and it’s the lack of connectivity that’s put me off - but I suspect I’d prefer the sound, and the AFX mode definitely interests me.
I think that in hindsight I’d have been better off with just a Beatstep Pro - but it’d probably be a different story if I was short of modular LFOs, envelopes and so on - there’s no doubt the Minibrute 2 brings a lot to the table for its price. It just hasn’t wowed me for whatever reason.
