why didn’t you share what changes made it work? 
I am in the same situation right now, and unfortunately can’t find an answer…

And now I’ve come here for the same reason: Mac (Sequoia) won’t see the M:S over usb.
If you have an iOS device, you could try using the app which supports model:samples for transferring samples. Wait a minute, I’ll try to find the name of that app…

The issue turned out to be the quality of the USB C lead I was using, with a Micro adapter in the M:S
When I tried a better quality one the Mac instantly asked if I wanted to trust this device, and the app saw the sampler.
