This is definitely something that I’d love to spend hours. It would haven even cooler if it was designed to swing around your shoulder like guitar. I’d love if ppl were playing this on live gigs
…any sounds yet…?
looks like the warp speed control panel on a klingon ship…
Agree, this looks really interesting. Shape reminds me of a zither. Curious to hear how it sounds
Unless I am reading wrong, the keyboard is monophonic, and the “five voices” are the main oscillator, three copies of its waveform at offsets to form a chord, and the modulation oscillator which can be a voice and also tracks the keyboard.
“Charachter” is spelled wrong on the faceplate…
Glad I wasn’t the only one who noticed.
I love seeing makers branch out and try new things, and personally the shape and design of this one looks very enticing to me. Will be keeping an eye on it for sure, I’m waiting for demos and a price tag. I’m always whining about modern synthesizers not supporting non-traditional tunings so the microtonal support instantly makes this a lot shinier… They’d better double check their spellings though.
I may be a bad person for it but this is such a terrible name that I’d be ashamed to own one.
I’d give them a bit of a bly with the spelling and naming, English clearly isn’t their first language.
Although calling a random gate module chaos is a bit misleading.
I’d prefer if more things had non-English names. They’re Italian and music already has a load of Italian names so a few synths having them would be fine. Even fine with all the controls being in Italian as we’d all learn new words.
2025 - A Clank Odyssey.
Finally!! A instrument made for me!! It is like they read my freaking mind!! I just need to know if it will cost two or three? Just let me know and it is yours!!
Are there any sound examples anywhere? I don’t see anything on ING and no YT link.
Filter amp says a lot of what to expect. I get the feeling the key here is it an instrument made for performance vs a versatile sound, but I’d be happy to be wrong.
In Uranograph’s additive and phase-morphing synthesis architecture, the filter plays a different role than in traditional subtractive synthesis. Unlike classic synths where filtering is crucial for shaping harmonics, Uranograph’s core oscillators inherently define the harmonic content through their phase manipulation and additive processes. As a result, harmonic reduction and spectral shaping are already embedded in the sound generation itself.
After the summation of the core oscillator, SUB, and MOD, Uranograph features the FiltAmp, a versatile circuit that functions as either a VCA or a Low Pass Gate (LPG)/VCA hybrid.
The Character controls the resonance, ranging from subtle warmth to highly aggressive self-oscillation, adding an organic response to dynamic playing.ento
No audio yet… but their modular system they just did like a half a year ago really blew me away, from demo’s I heard I thought it was one of the best sounding new synth’s I have ever heard… I really wanted a voltage lab or a solar 42 but it just blew them out of the water for me… the interface I wasn’t quite sold on so I didn’t jump but the sound was incredible… like a futuristic buchla sound… I thought it could hang with anything I have heard…
This interface is everything I wanted with their sound.
Love Clank, I have the oracle system and it’s really great. Their chaos sequencer is one of the best in all of Eurorack IMO. Looking forward to this, whatever it ends up being.
Pre-orders are now open. One batch promised at the end of the summer, €1550; one at the end of the year, €1750; and €1940 after that. I think these prices do not include VAT.
I had estimated €2800 so I’m pleased to be proved wrong on this.
I do wish they’d put up a few more videos before opening preorders, for the sake of those interested. I will keep watching, but I doubt one of these is in my future.
Also: non finalized design reeks of Crowdfunding — The Good, the Bad & the Ugly and I’m not in the mood to play that game.
Yeah definitely neat. Also cheaper than I expected but thankfully beyond my curiosity bracket.
Still looking forward to seeing this as a performance instrument. Someone will properly abuse it and that should be a great watch.
They have provided quite a lot of written information on the website, even if it is a bit thin in places. They also have a good track record. It’s a digital device so there’s likely to be more last-minute tinkering than usual, plus bug fixes and updates to come. I think this is just awkward timing, not malice, but it’s a little unfortunate to ask people to plunk down close to €2K for something that they’ll receive six months from now if all goes well, on the basis of four minutes of video.
Yeah that’s fair… although Clank has a solid track record imo and have put out some really advanced modules in the past… so I don’t think they’re biting of to much with this one, but it’s always a good idea to be cautious of crowdfunding.
My modular is very much designed to be a hands-on expressive instrument that I feel I’m actually playing. That’s why this intrigued me as it seems to be trying to explore what is possible for a small synthesizer to be non-traditional, but still be an actual instrument, but the video had me thinking it’s basically just a relatively standard synthesizer with a ‘funny’ keyboard. Will keep an eye on this, but yeah, I’m not sure I quite get it.
