Digitone II: bug reports

Help!
Just bought digitone 2 and first proplem is loud usb hum noise! Terrible sound when usb cable is plucked in to a computer. It doesnt matter if i use usb hub or laptops usb port. Anyone else got this proplem too?
My analog four mkii dont do that.

Edit: okey, so it is usb ground loop noise, but why is it louder in digitone 2 than in A4?

I was not able to layer a track with sequence coming from a midi track. Probably a bug, dunno, sounds (did not sound) like one.

Wasn’t the bug fix about inputs ?

Digitakt 1 ?

Frustrating limit that should be clearly specified imo.

(Don’t expect midi arp with layers ! Trigs are layered, not arpeggiated notes)

(Midi tracks are also not affected by Control All)

Intended imo.

I biked over to a friends house earlier today and when I got there all of the sounds in my project (not saved, unfortunately) were back to the default. Sequencer data was still there so it was just a bunch of rhythmic C note sine waves when I pressed play :frowning:

Happy to hear that the DN II sync problems and pitch glitching of the delay has been acknowledged and planned to be adressed in a future update. (Apparently that’s been mentioned somewhere in these 400+ pages, though i can’s seem to find it.)

Yes! I can control NRPN & CC on the Digitakt 1 as well as on Digitone 1 just fine. I can also control CC on the Digitone 2, but not NRPN.

Maybe errors in the manual.
I’d send NRPN with encoders (NRPN mode) and use a midi monitor.

Based on this thread: Two Digitone 2 connect to MacOS issues - #8 by matoys

It appears that all DN2 units report the same serial number over USB

Euclidean mode doesn’t sound all trigs.
Set PL1 to 4 and PL2 to zero. 4 trigs are places but only 2 are heard. Works fine on other tracks though.

Tried this on an empty pattern, worked fine, couldn’t reproduce the issue. Sequencer data on the track in question might be silencing trigs (the Euclidean sequencer spreads out parameter locks from the track sequencer)

I think you’re right! Thank you! Didn’t know it spread out p-locks.

(Digitone II) When I record audio through audio/usb on my computer I get bad quality audio with all the low frequencies cut and sounds like it has low bitrate.
And when I record through cables out into my audio interface and into my computer it all sounds perfect.

I wrote to elektron support and they told me to factory reset.
Anyone else experienced this?

Try going to the trak setup menu, go to the voice (mono, poly…) and select Poly.M.
it should stick every note to the same lfo instead of having multiple different lfos in the back.

Alternatively, you can fix the number of voices (a couple voices with free Poly LFO makes wonders on a mono melody).
Or use the “Reuse” option.
But yeah, LFO Poly.M is indeed the most obvious option.

When using the digitone as a sync leader with my Norns shields, the digitone dis- and reconnects every couple of seconds making sync impossible. Since this worked perfectly with the OG digitone it seems like something has changed with the new one. Using a midi cable solves the issue.

Yes, I came here to see if this is reported already as I just discovered Performance Kits today and just as you said whenever doing a [PRESET/KIT] + [NO] to reload the pattern kit I hear a strange bleep just as you described but its not consistent. I essentially won’t reload the kit during a performance for now til its addressed. I think the Pattern Temp reload also did the same.

The pause when external transport stop behavior is common to all Elektron devices. So I doubt it’s related to your trouble project. Perhaps send the prj file to Elektron support in a bug report ticket?

WaveTone Bug?

There are audible pops when moving between the following parameter values:

  • WAV2 119 - 120
  • LEV1 99 - 100 - 101
  • LEV2 99 - 100 - 101

Video report:

Seems out of place compared to the rest of the values which are smooth transitions.

EDIT: I forgot I reported more of these here earlier as well Digitone II bug reports - #43 by dzyndzel
