DN2 defective screen or normal behaviour?

I just notice this strange effect on my Digitone 2 screen. I wonder if it’s normal and all of you have it, or maybe I got a defective screen and better replace my unit now than later.

The voice control screen have a strange dimmed horizontal line behind “UNISON”. In my opinion, this pixels should all be complete white, not dimmed, but I might be wrong and it’s the correct screen design.
Sorry for all the dust in the screen, the plastic protector has not been removed YET.

Thank you. It’s a bit frustrating thinking about a machine swap when you get your new toy, just because the screen has a row of defective pixels. Now I can relax and enjoy.

Not really adding anything new to the fact that it’s normal, but there might be a reason that they have that border / barrier line with a different intensity to the field of lettering that it intersects with. Maybe because that row is distributed across more of the display, but just on that single row? Maybe the pixels can be intensified by row on the X or Y axis but not individually in a gradient kind of way?

Just thinking that for your instance where you see it consistent across that entire row, and that’s the only row there with a longer bar of pixels which intersects with the block of letters “unison”, it may very well be some deliberate allocation of resources. I really don’t know enough about programming an OLED to tell you if it would matter, but I’m sure on some level it must.

If you see any other menu on your DN2 showing evidence of that same convention, where a line of pixels runs through a block of seemingly brighter text, you might be able to confirm whether or not this is random or if it seems methodical, especially if it’s on a a different menu screen which uses that convention at a different location than the one shown (like higher up for example).

Either way it doesn’t look anything (to me) like the other white OLED devices that were having issues recently.

There was a post a few months ago on this topic which was pretty similar to what you’re saying. Something like there is a set voltage per row, and as more pixels get lit within a row, the average intensity of each one goes down slightly. Only particularly noticeable when you have long horizontal lines.
