Is it possible to program one encoder to send data on multiple channels? eg. I want to open filter on channel 1 and 2?
nope, only single channel per encoder.
something like midihub can probably help, but not as convenient as it would be internally
Has anybody an idea how to get an offline copy of the Editor webpage ? I tryed to copy it with httrack, but it seems -that its not complete, i just need it at some place, where i dont have internet. The editing function is ok, but somewhat hard to remember if not used constantly.
you can snag it on github
(link was on the bottom of the editor)
hereâs the easiest way to make an offline copy of the editor: follow the link supplied by @slowwild which leads you to the faderfox-editor (Master branch), then click the green dropdown button labeled âCodeâ, choose âDownload ZIPâ and download to your computer. after you un-ZIP it, go into the âfaderfox-editor-masterâ folder, click into the EC4 folder and double click on the index.html file or open using the Chrome browser. say yes to the thing about this file wanting to control and reprogram your Midi devices (via SysEx) and you should be good. HTTrack wonât work in a case like this.
âŚand speaking of repos and the faderfox-editor Master branch, itâs occasionally interesting to glance at the non-Master branches on github., for fun
Yes., did that, works like a charm.
New firmware v2 available for EC4 for xmas!
nice. any idea on whats new?
I canât find it on the site yet.
2.0 details just got posted here:
Woo! Better 14-bit acceleration was something I requested a while back. Also very excited that the display can now present the toggle status of the push encoders. Cool stuff all around
Lots of new features. Great Ableton script updates too.
Itâs all on the website
- remote control of setup/group select, display and snapshot by fixed sysex commands
Hmm, that means, you could sequence the layout with your live set, very hand feature. A bit sad that it needs a fixed sysex to do so, with a autochannel note message, it would be more general purpose setup usable with the octatrack internal sequencer, maybe with a bome box its doable, but anyway its forward thinking !
- four user keys in function menu (send fixed sysex commands of key status)
Would that be usable to fetch the controller state from the OT ?
The update is actually totall killer !!! You could setup a master page, where you control everything - lets say filter cut off, with the button press you go to the filter page to edit the filter envelope ADSR for example- and with another button press from that filter edit group - you could switch back to the master page.
This is a totally new controller with this setup method. Also totally doable for LFO /mod matrix destinations -etcâŚ
Program change message, via the push button encoders etc.
Man this is really christmas - AR 1.70 and now this - really a perfect combo.
I made a little template for the Octatrack for Firmware 2.0, maybe you can adjust it to your liking.
I didnt test it yet, just filled the numbers from documentation, assuming the audio tracks are still on 1-8 Midi Channel.
OT-Tracks-2023.syx (224.0 KB)
I used some of the new button combinations, Button 16 on Setup 1, sends Midi CC61=0
The filter window accesses, the track submenu - when pressed.
The filter cutoff, goes to min when pressed (not sure if this is the best here - could possibly changed to the new elektron mode for better or faster resolution.)
I added track , arm solo buttons on the track subgroup, the encoder rotates volume, the press solo /arms. )
Button 1 in the group, switches back to the main page, where the filter is controlled.
Page group 2 is FX master page, with send and one parameter for alllthe tracks.
Lets discuss your setup ideas, and refine the template. Merry X-MAS to everyone
I did not dig into the link knob function yet - so there might be more creative ways to approach it.
woah that update looks awesome, Iâll update a bit later but
fully programmable push buttons
does this means now pushing now can send different CC then the turning?
link functions for up to 16 multiple commands by turning/pushing one encoder
so basically 16 macros? wow thatâs real cool!
canât figure out if the editor can upload the firmware or I need extra sysex software for that?
the 2.0 editor seems to have this functionality but not sure if itâs safe to use?
ok used the link and worked without issues!
Thatâs what I would love to know as well! Not near my device atm so canât test myself.
it does! itâs incredible, you can now define totally independent values by turn or push, for example Iâve setup the rytm pingpong/stereo in one button, so pushing it will toggle the pingpong and turning it will control the stereo width.
the push though does not send NRPN but thatâs totally ok, you donât need NRPN for toggle, thereâs also momentary push option which is really nice.
now I can setup on one page 12 scenes and perfs with ease, each encoder can turn performance and toggle a scene. really cool update!
btw the toggle is reflected on the EC4 display with an asterisk next to the encoder, so you always know toggle status:
wow! thanks so much for the detailed response, this really ups the value of the Faderfox EC4 and does away with one of my biggest gripes with the device. Currently on holiday, but once back itâll be time to reprogram my patches for the EC4, canât wait to finally use push as a toggle!
Also love the visual feedback theyâve added, very nice and all of this totally unexpected!
totally unexpected and really next level stuff, there is also different response curves for slower/faster changes per encoder, linking encoders together, so for example you can link both reverb and delay highpass filter to one encoder, lots of cool things!
Incredible. I literally just send him my yearly reminder for my feature requestsâŚâŚ
And he did add sysex control for names !!!
- push encoder options. Thanks !
