Now they just need to release an Uno Drum PRO X
Sweetwater has one left in stock right now if anyone’s looking.
I don’t see any mention of seq probability anywhere. anyone know if it has any or ommited?
I just ordered one. watched a tonne of vids on it the past 2 days. I think it’s a gem. gonna make a sick little friend for the OT.
the new ui is right up my alley. sounds wonderful, especially it’s duophonic pads. I’m gonna p-lock & modulate the hell out of it.
OS wishlist:
elektron style sound (preset) locks.
fx parameter mod destinations.
probability.
undo.
[edit: I cancelled my order. a mint A4 mk1 came up for sale locally for €620. couldn’t pass it up. sorry IK]
Hey guys, just got one, any one that can give me a hint on how to do a minor chord? Like, for dubby tech stuff? I cant really get the hang of it - and it´s usually no simple!
I can do it with my iridium, monomachine, kodamo but somehow not with the Uno X?! Granted, i just got it, byut anyway… Help? Cheers!
Marcus
While that is a far better choice I don’t think €620,- is that much of a special deal. Most go for around €500,- . Sold my AK for €625,- last week. (after having it at least 2 months on sale.)
probably true. seemed cheap cause they all seem to get advertised for 800 - 1k€ (not that they sell for that, on closer inspection). but… its so damn clean. and I love it to bits
It’s paraphonic so you can just play three notes on the keyboard. No need to detune the oscillators
Ah; that´s sort of obvious, DOH. Thanks!
Guess i have worked the other way around for too long.
Anyway; i am conflicted. The unit have some killer basslines, leads and other things. I can see it being a go-to unit in every track. But still, it´s weird - i have an aversion to it, dont know why. Guess i have to use it more!
Aversion to the sound or workflow?
Or the look?
I don´t really know! Sorry. I mostly use digital gear and really like the sound from thouse units, but the UnoX is the most interesting analog unit i have come across for a long time so i can´t say i dislike the sound. Some sounds are awesome. Or, many are i mean. Workflow is no problem.I dont really know what bugs me. I thin i need to work more with it so decide.
I also wish for clear automation with Clear + turn a knob. And undo with Shift + Back.
I just got one in the mail today, a cheap one on ProAudioStar that they said was open box, but came brand new. They also had an additional sale when I bought, so it was only $389 usd + tax, so I couldn’t say no.
I just started using it so I definitely have new buyer blindness, but as most of the reviewers have said it fixed most of my problems with the Uno Synth Pro. Lots of knobs that make exploration easier, the drive is pretty great, etc.
Its still an Uno, so the signal path is a bit noisy and there is some bleed from the VCA etc, but its not a major detriment. I mostly bought this to have a knobby mono synth to tweak on for fun, so I’m giving it a setup alongside my Tanzbar that I always miss jamming on. I’m not sure I’d recommend it over a used Analog Four MKI for many use cases, but if you want something immediate, cheap and with presets+fx its pretty awesome.
Btw, it looks like IK Multimedia is not charging people $20 to transfer their Uno Synth Pro X registrations like they were with previous hardware. I was able to “unclaim” my serial number (and then claim it again with no fee). I had already created another throw-away IK account just so I could hand that off if I sold the synth
Is this synth an A4 killer?
In my opinion… Not even close.
Honestly though, I don’t really see the comparison.
Cheers!
I think the filters and oscs on the Uno are nicer, but the A4 has a ton more going on. I see the Uno as competition with the Norand Mono more than the A4.
I’m probably going to sell my Uno because I want less gear and the A4 is already at the center of my setup. But, if I didn’t see myself using the A4 as a 4-part synthesis box I’d sell it instead. The Uno is definitely more immediate.
