Introducing Digitakt II

Please, no. I mean, yes, plausible, but the worst possible resolution to the problems.

No, the perform kit is like a copy of the current pattern’s kit that is not saved, and that is not affected by pattern changes. It allows for parameter changes that don’t jump when the pattern changes.

There are a lot of new features that help create bigger projects: more sequencing and conditional trig options, making use of stereo resamples, sound macros that could be sequenced with midi loopback, but perform kit solves just the one problem of parameter continuity between patterns.

I think you’ve misread my question. Can you live record the parameter changes into the patterns when using Perform Kit?

First reports of the Syntakt screen issue also impacting Digitakt 2. Keep an eye out for the symptoms and open a support ticket

I get one big line on the DT2 but only in the Preset/Kit menu. No where else. Leads me to believe it’s not hardware. But who knows. Doesn’t affect me music though

I jus had my first jam on dt2.

that thing is nasty AF :grin::heart:

I tested live-recording parameter changes in Perform Kit, and p-lock changes are recorded to the sequencer, and they remain in the sequencer after Perform Kit is turned off.

This confirmed what I’d assumed Perform Kit is: As with the reload screen on the old Digi’s, each pattern has Kit Data and Sequencer Data. P-locks /live recorded locks are Sequencer Data. Perform Kit detaches the currently playing kit from the currently playing pattern, and keeps that temporary kit through pattern changes. You can change a pattern’s sequence data while in Perform Kit, and it will persist outside of Perform Kit once is turned off.

Perform Kit works in Song Mode, confirmed, but changes to the sequence data while in song mode stay in the pattern, and changes to the kit (track parameters) are not saved.

I won’t guess further what you’re imagining, but Kits and Perform Kit have generated lots of questions here, so I’m trying to describe what it does as precisely as possible.

Right, I thought I’d seen that behaviour already.

EDIT: I mean, the changes get saved against the original pattern the kit came from, right?

Thanks, this is the bit I’m interested in. So can you live-record a smooth filter sweep across several patterns?

I found a workaround for low input level…

Gotcha. I gave this a try and it seemed to work okay with Perform Kit left on, but not after turning it back off.

It seems obvious now, but I realize I need an empty bowl and spoon in my signal chain.

Damn :eyes: This is like a dream setup for me!

Always wanted to give the bisquit a go!

Did the delay algorithm change? When changing patterns with different tempo I finally don’t hear the pitch drifting

I was a little disappointed to see that the boot up animation was the same as the Digitakt 1. Digitakt (and Digitone) have fine animations but I was hoping for something new.

And then I updated and looks like my wishes were granted. Pretty neat animation now.

I think my rank goes:

  1. Octatrack (at least the MK2, I assume it’s the same) - beautiful wave of lights across the buttons and a really cool animation.

  2. Syntakt - cool 3d wireframe render of the Elektron logo that spins around.

  3. Digitakt 2 - Explosive wave of Elektron logo

  4. Digitakt 1 and Digitone - Elektron logo breaks apart into dust as if Thanos just snapped his fingers.

  5. Analog Heat + FX: flames comes up from the bottom of the screen and the elektron logo emerges (or it says analog heat or something, I forgot exactly)

  6. Analog Rytm and Four - Just says Elekton and then fades to the devices name. Boring.

  7. Analog Heat MK2 - pretty sure it just showed the elektron logo and nothing else.

This is the content I come here for!

Hi all - I ordered a Digitakt II back in April and I’m still waiting for it. Have many others been waiting also? Thanks!

Mine should show up soon. Any major bugs that you can share that I should watch out for?

Eagerly awaiting your shootout of the DT2 trig colors (orange, yellow!) vs AR Mk2 pad colors, vs other contenders…

There is also the E25 boot-up animation:
