Introducing Digitone II

I guess the easiest answer is that this makes it way cheaper and easier to produce. It means the case and most elements are still the same as on the older digis.

I don’t buy the argument that everything should be USB-C btw. I love it on most devices, but on a sturdy instrument that’s built for gigging with it, the bigger USB port on the digis makes much more sense. This one won’t come off as easily as a USB-C one and also means you don’t have to think about different variations of ports and cables when packing: Elektron always has the same USB cable.

Don’t fix what’s not broken? Also, the benefits might not worth the change?

Exactly I take the older printer connection any day on this type of device , my focusrite 1820 has usb c : it seems fragile on this kind of equipment but I understand the bandwidth must be way larger

Thank you all for feedback. It was just a curiosity and I agree with all.

The only positive side to have usb c for me is to just use one cable wihich is just compatible with everything out there without the need of using cumbersome not future proof usb adapters.

That’s actually a misunderstanding. While USB-C connectors have the potential to be used for the newest USB standards with the largest bandwidth, they can also be used for older USB standards. The Focusrite 18i20 actually only uses USB 2.0. See this nifty table on Wikipedia concerning the different USB standards and the different connectors.
