Korg microKORG 2

Just tested this on mine and I can’t reproduce the issue, everything seems to work like it should.

I checked and mine is fine as well. I’m also on the latest OS.

Thanks Guys,
Weirdly, turned it on this morning and I can’t reproduce it.
Likely a weird button combination I may have pressed and found a software glitch, but I don’t think I need to return it.
Out of interest… the supplied mic does seem a bit meh.
Would I be best buying another?
What is best for general use, dynamic or condenser?
Haven’t much experience with mics, but thought it would be fun experimenting

The 6.3mm mic input is for dynamic mics and the 3.5mm is 5V only so very limited in terms of mic selection. Condenser mics need power, usually 48V.

It definatley a me problem

Just wondering if some people have thoughts on the difference compared to the OG. I know Loopop video but i am still missing a kind of statement where the new version sits in terms of sound shaping possibilities as well as quality of sound (more important) compared to the original Microkorg. Do we get a completely different sound character or do we get all the OG sound possibilities „plus more?“

Totally different sound engine

does that mean that one cannot make those beautiful sounds as on the OG? Or just that you have to do them all „another way“ and over time we wilm have the same patch banks created for the Microkorg 2 as we had for the OG?

I can’t really help you there, but to be honest I’m not a big fan of the OG. It was my first synth back in the day and making patches on it was a PITA for me. The new one is MUCH easier to program and get good sounds for me, but YMMV.

Here’s a demo video with a focus on Ambient, Electronica and Melodic Techno. Maybe you find it useful

I’ve tried recreating (or approximating, really, as I’ve never owned the original) a small handful of Micorkorg 1 and MS2000 patches on the MK2 - mostly ones used in the Metroid Prime soundtrack. There’s a definite difference. Not better or worse, just different. You won’t quite get that distinctly lofi 2000s VA feeling out of the MK2 without a bit of extra work, and maybe not at all in some cases if you’re looking for an exact match. As has been stated, it’s a completely different sound engine.

This doesn’t particularly bother me but it’s worth knowing.
