Thank you very much!
Yeah no worries, I think if you skip to around 3:45 in this video he talks about accented rhythms with shakers and that might be a helpful frame of reference as well.
There is a āshakerā sound on the sound pool but itās not like a maraca or anything traditional used in house / Afro house music
Instead of white noise, my suggestion would be the analog cymbals, which give the grainy texture of the real thing if tuned wayyyyy down (and have colour already).
Thanks heaps Jeanne, great idea Iāll give this a go as well! Cheers!!!
three tests using analog cymbal track machines (quiet audio), the last one guiro ā¦
This video is also a great example how extremely different shaker instruments can sound!
@OscillatorSink has a nice video on this topic.
never tried doing shakers with the hihat/cymbal machines but looks like almost all of the machines can do the job with some tweaking, Iām not sure if thereās significant difference between the machines on rytm vs syntakt but I assume not that far.
some dry examples, adding panning/modulation/reverb can really make some nice stuff hereā¦
HH BASIC
CY RIDE
The HH Basic one sounds like a tambourine and shaker playing together - thatās ace!
I know, a bit OT, but this is how you do maracas with Drumlogue
But in this case ihe user sees it as a problem.
If you want to hear this idea in context on the Syntakt rather than the digitakt I use it on 3 out of 5 tracks in this video:
Song 1 Iām using the analog noise machine to do it
Song 2 Iām using the noise side of the digital Bit machine (which gives you some nice ways to shape the noise actually)
Song 5 Iām using the analog Ride machine to do a kind of hybrid shaker/brushed ride thing that I think sounds pretty cool.
Edit: on closer inspection, the shaker thing on Song 5 is probably the digital HH machine, the Ride machine is just doing straight 8th notes, but they layer up nicely.
Was about to post this, too š«” while itās on the digitakt the clever use on LFOs and Amp Env is the actual key in the video
Excellent the analog noise machine sounds like itās working well I might start with that. Thank you!
Thatās great Iām keen to give this a go. Thank you!
Great video Iām gonna have a go at this see what I can come up with!
