Just discovered this beauty (perfourmer)… man! Never heard something like this! It just sounds awesome! Unfortunately it’s too pricey for me and too big to hide from my wife… damn…
I stopped buying synth and sold every synth to keep only the PERfourMER MKII. This synth sound so nice, no VST can compete with him. Also very creative with his 4 identical voices.
Just picked up a Perfourmer MKII from Noisebug! I’m enjoying this thread. Not much out there on this synth compared to the usual stuff. Not much YouTube love either. I guess because it’s been out for a decade.
Loved my Vermona when I had it. The play modes and multi-timbrality is so flexible. Huge sound. Never tried a Matriarch, but would love to.
There are good demos of the Vermona in the link below, but the unit I had didn’t have the ‘resonance compensation circuit’, so the bass-drop-off when cranking the resonance was more noticeable compared to any original Minimoogs that I’ve played.
I’ve become quite taken with the idea of a Perfourmer - largely off the back of watching a guy on YouTube called Federico Chiesa (spelling correctly I hope, releases as Oora). Has a fantastic and varied approach to producing/setup but there’s a couple of videos dedicated to sequencing the Vermona with an Octatrack.
I absolutely love the sound of perfourmer. I’m kinda covered for synths atm but one day I will get one.
I said the exact same thing in a comment of one of theses video last year. Then the pandemic start and I told mysef it was this day or never.
I’ve been watching his channel for a while now. It’s sparked my interest in the Perfourmer once again. It’s there anything else out there that is 4 mono’s in one other than the A4 and DN? More along the analog side with or without a sequencer or menus, doesn’t matter.
The A4 is about the only thing that comes close as far as I can tell. I love watching videos of it, but for some reason just can’t get excited about seeing myself play the A4.
Ordered a Perfourmer instead. Can’t wait for it to arrive.
I received my Perfourmer this week and am really happy with it so far. One observation though is the size of it does not come across in youtube videos. This thing is HUGE. But it needs a lot of real estate for all those juicy knobs, so it makes sense.
Where are yall finding them in Stock at? Doesn’t seem to be anywhere in the US at the moment
I ordered mine from Noisebug. It was their last one in stock, but they did mention that they’ve ordered more of them. They seem to carry more Vermona gear than most places in the US. I would check back with them.
Dsi Tetra can work as 4 separate monos also too my knowledge, no idea how the menus are for working it though. Dsi Pro 2 isn’t but I also sort of put it in a similar league, clever use of the oscillators and sequencer can make it sound like 4 different monos sharing a pair of filters.
A nightmare. The tetra is a lot of analog synth for the money, but a performance instrument, it is not.
Even trying to set up a control surface doesn’t work very well, because a lot of the parameters require NRPN messages.
I thought it sounded great, but the interface meant it ended up being too much of a preset machine for me, so had to let it go.
Analog Keys is the real competitor
Behringer Mono/Poly would be the alternative.
Man, I heard a piece using the Perfourmer last night on YouTube - I was trying to find how it sounds just used as a 4 voice poly, playing chords. And it sounds wonderful! Definitely on my interest list.
Here’s the video I watched: https://youtu.be/KhP_362UE0M
I feel like I should love and want the Matriarch, but for some reason I don’t feel it. Perfourmer though… That sound hits the mark.
A4 / AK is nowhere near either of them in terms of pure sound. I’m interested to hear the MonoPoly though, might check out some videos.
…not that I can afford any synths at the mo, and I can’t part with any of my current crop! So it’s all just window shopping for another day!
superb channel
Moog Matriarch without keys should be a thing!
Also wished for the MFB Poly to be stripped from the display crap control, just knobs like the Vermona Perfourmer … .
The Perfourmer MK2 has this special sine wave in the Osc section…can´t be done on the Matriarch. On the other hand, the Perfourmer has a rather weak filter, the Matriarch excels there.
And panning can´t be automated via LFO on the P4er, which is a shame. I think, if they would shrink the UI and open it up with patch points, this thing would be perfect.
The comparison between those two are also a bit unfair. The P4er is a true polyphonic synth, the M only paraphonic.
