Whoops, my bad.
I work with both and move back and forth between the two ā I sometimes forget which features are on which machine (or which forum Iām reading!).

I would love macros and lfo on the Mpcā¦
What do you think about the MPC XL, MPC ONE mk2 and MPC Mini launching this spring rumours?
Had the original Live since it was released and only thing Iād change is to give it a tilt adjustable screen, like the X and older MPCs. Hopefully, this option may find its way into more models than just the flagship one. Something similar to the MPC One but with a tilt screen would be a definite buy.

Iād really really love to see a Force in the MPC form factor. Portable. Battery. I sketched it up, like this.
I donāt feel any pressure to upgrade the One (or Force) at all. It probably helps that I donāt need multiple plugin tracks - Iām mainly in it for the sampling and sequencing, for which the One is still comfortably overspecced.
I might be tempted if they added an SSD port and Arranger mode to the One, in which case I could consolidate down and itād be pretty convenient. And 48khz USB audio would be nice, but Iād be annoyed if they implemented that and didnāt bring that over to the existing models.
If I were in a cynical mood, Iād expect Akai to introduce cross-platform OS updates that start to tax the previous generation, so our samplers become like our phones. But as long as the hardware keeps working, I think the One is pretty well futureproofed for me,
Iāve got 8 plugin tracks running on the MPC Live, in the template project that I use as a starting point for everythingā¦ Thatās more than enough for me.
A stable clock, on the other handā¦ THAT would be an upgrade.
Cheers!
Weird thing happened to me today with MPC One (standalone). When I tried to open my project I saw an error message saying that I dont have OPx4 plugin (which I use in the project).
There was no way how to re-activate the plugin - even restart didnt work. The plugin has been deactivated. Which is weird, because my device has been not plugged into internet since november.
So I connected ethernet cable and downloaded latest firmware. With ethernet cable connected I was able to refresh āactivated pluginsā and button āActivateā appeared at OPx4 plugin. So I was able to activate it again.
Is it possible that the paid plugins are time limited and you have to connect to internet each 4 months to reactivate them?
Why can Timbaland get customised splash screen on his edition and I canāt???
Well thatās all kinds of garbage. Glad I never bought any of the plug-ins.
Happened to my on me Force a few weeks ago as reported here:
From the link the @chrisroland posted it sounds like this is a fairly common problem.
I really love my Force but this is unacceptable and has put me off ever buying another one of the paid plugins again.
I havenāt been here for a while and just read this info. I bought the FM plugin but have not used it yet. This is completely unacceptable. Do they not realize people will take a instrument that has a battery in it out somewhere other than home?
Thanks for the link.
So plugins have a licence with fixed expiration date and you have to connect to internet to refresh them. Maybe multiple times per year.
It seems OPx4 was last plugin I bought .
Will they do the same with 3.0 firmware ?
Intuition told me not to purchase these paid plugins, and now Iām glad that I trusted my gut.
As much as I love the MPC, if they ever pull this stunt with the firmware, Iāll be out of the Akai ecosystem like buckshot.
Call me crazy, but I buy standalone hardware for the STANDALONE factor. Ahem!
Cheers!
Thatās disappointing to hear. Not the biggest deal but annoying and if you use the mpc for for shows, you have to always stay on top of the expiry
Browsing the drum programs, there are lots of exciting patterns to preview. How do you load the midi for those preview patterns? All I can do is load the individual drum sounds.
Sold my MPC Live 2 not too long ago, but have been following developments in case the fabled NAMM next gen of MPCs fix some of the gripes I have with it. I bought a copy of Air Flavor Pro for standalone back when I still had the Live 2, and then activated and tried it a few times in Ableton when the VST functionality was added. Yesterday, after a break of probably a month or two, I tried to load up an instance of Flavor Pro in Ableton and it had mysteriously deactivated itself. I had to go through the whole activation process again. If I hadnāt been online at the time, it would have been bad luck for me. Not a good look for Akai.
My non-generous take is that Akai/InMusic thinks they can surreptitiously force their customers into continuous online tracking / marketing.
When I buy a āstand aloneā instrument I want it to be precisely that ā stand alone. I donāt want to have to periodically connect it to the 'net to validate, etc. Thatās precisely why Iāll never buy another piece of gear from Native Instrumentsā¦
