It takes time to come up with original ideas.
I read somewhere here that they have a small space for appointments only.
If it takes them this long, they need to hire someone who has ideas.
We told them for free that we want Octatrack DJ mixer as upgrade.
That is what we need! A blend of A&H DB4 and Octatrack
Not really sure Namm has revealed anything new and/or original? Unless Iâm missing something? Some nice new synths and some reissues of some nice old synths. The MPC one is a sheep in sheeps clothing and the Launchpad now has new (Elektron style sequencer features)
You canât reinvent the wheel, especially every 12 months.
Elektron made a statement in one of the namm threads that they are not releasing anything at namm 2020.
I like this lot, I don´t know where some people get this âthey need a new flagship product every yearâ idea from. I prefer long time support of âoldâ hardware and constant bugfixing. They are probably working on something new but it is good to take a lot of time and not rush it.
I think some companies business stategy is to exploit this new need for a constant shot of dopamine and release uninspired throwaways relentlessly. Elektrons approach is much more rewarding Imo.
Itâs weird in a way since it hasnât always been like this. In 2017 Elektron released like 4 or 5 new boxes + announced Overbridge 2. Itâs almost Behringer pace.
Something seems to have happened since now itâs been years without any new big boxes. I am not sure itâs a good thing a company thatâs looking to make profit goes silent for so longâŚ
I think profit expectations differ wildly between companies.
It was that way earlier. MD was 01 ; MM was 04; OT '11. I wouldnât call mk2s new boxes. In fact since the AR the only truly new thing theyâve done (Imo) is the DN.
Theyâve always said OB never took away from hardware design so they might have been cooking something grand this whole time.
When you look at the amount of hype for the Op-Z for example Iâd say itâs probably the opposite. More time passes, and more speculations run wild. The most obvious drawback is that itâs hard to live up to such high expectations.
New voice controlled synth/fx processor from Waves.
â give it a try â
Bassline DB-01 from some gal named Erica
Best thing to come out of the NAMM thread so far!
The sound of silence? I donât thereâs even one second of synth audio
Yes its a dissapointing update. I wish it would just hurry up and get released as its been talked about for ages now and reviewed several times by Nick Batt etc etc.
They might have slowed their roll on releasing new gear. They seem to be focused on correcting issues on existing products - which I think is great.
One would hope.
