Need advice on next purchase

Toiught that too, but after about 4 months the iPad I bought is just sitting somewhere in my house.

The best and only thing I ended up using is koala, but spending 300 for a 15€ app ain’t worth it

Grooveboxes are nice because they are limited in their own ways and each has their peculiarity

However the touch screen is amazingly good for sampling things and editing the sample, that’s why, as I mentioned in the OG post, if I’ll buy a pc I’d want it touch screen

Totally understand. It’s definitely not for everyone. For me, having AUM as a hub which allowed me to incorporate Koala, Patterning 3, Strokes etc along with all the incredible AUv3 instruments people have created meant that the iPad was untouched. If I want to go granular - Quanta, Samplr, Borderlands etc; if I want drum synths - Drum Computer, Drum Lab, Ruismaker/Noir; if I want esoteric synths - Hilda, Mononoke; if I want subtractive synths - Trooper, Ivoks; sequencing? Strokes, Octachron, Atom - and the effects are either 1:1 with desktop (i.e. FabFilter) or right up there. And that’s without getting into things which only exist within the iOS space like all the incredible experiments Igor Vasiliev conjures up!

The Deluge must be up there as an all in one consideration, with room to expand and sequence other gear later. Great UI.

Or a cheap Digitakt if you see one.

but nobody else knows what is best for you. it sounds like you have a bunch of experience with different gear. but its hard for others to help you if you dont expand on what you used and what worked for you.

which one worked best for you? if you dont want that one again, look at the options with similar specs in the price range you are comfortable with. you could make a list here and describe your experience with each one, this practice alone will likely help you more than any blind suggestions thrown out here.

my opinion on recommendation threads: all of the gear i use is often labeled as too fiddly or too limited. however i have had the most fulfilling and consistent fun with these tools. im glad i didnt listen to the most visible opinions and tried things for myself to know what i like to use.
