avantronica, thats not the point!
the point is: i’m a user who paid money for a product that promises upgrades and features.
and because of that, the product hasn’t reach his final state, i feel in the role to give feedback and to collect feedback from users, to became even better product as it is!
it’s ok if you don’t want to vote! we are all free people, right?
Yes, but I want to tie each pattern to a monomachine pattern with different volume/scene assignment settings for each pattern.
So that the scene crossfader effects like delay time are better suited to each particular MNM pattern. The MNM patterns are all different and not made in groups of four.
avantronica, i think if there is even just one single item on the list that you would find useful, then you must vote! : )
that’s the way the poll is built - it’s a sieve.
we quantify desire ; )
if truly all of them are useless to you, fine, don’t vote. no harm done…
the goal is to have a shorter list first, and then further debate these points, (precise formulation, implementation ideas, etc.) at least i think that is what van is aiming for.
i also think the less items we have, the easier to pitch them well.
for what it’s worth, parts can be used in all sorts of creative ways, they aren’t limited to one type of use
I like to use them to switch between a thru machine on a track and a flex machine on that same track that was sampled from the thru machine
…so thru machine, get something I like, sample it, switch parts, mangle it
other:
function + reload + yes to reload. or even simpler just let me straight up turn it off until i want it. which is usually at the end of project. seriously this is the only thing that really bugs me. okay after spending 4 or 5 hours maybe i should save
but damn even computers are doing automatic versioning now.
once im in the zone let me work without worrying or i won’t be in the zone.
slicing:
i’d enjoy it if slicing was more performance oriented. i like the editor just fine, but i don’t find it very dynamic to use live while sampling. i don’t care so much about how it’s specifically done (or isn’t ) but some ideas in order of ridiculousness:
record trigs create new slices up to a limit you can set beforehand. sample allocation memory divided by sample time = max slices.
recording within slice points. i.e. record from slice 7 to 8 or 23 to 42, etc. maybe we’re supposed to bounce back and forth between flex machines in one part and pickups in another, if that’s the case it could be smoother, i think.
option to automatically add overlapping slices that double or half in size. this can produce cool results, but i wouldn’t mind not having to set this up manually.
slices based on ratios so the file is rhythmically cut up. nothing crazy is needed, simple stuff like repeating 3/5/11 or 3/4 until the slices are used up. i find this is often more musically useful right away compared to a bunch of evenly spaced slices.
LFO designer to create slice drawings. positive is looping negative is non looping? LFO modes + speed and depth decide how the slices are placed. max speed and multiplier use all the slices.
effects:
i assume envelope following (aka side chain anything) doesn’t exist for a good reason considering how awesome and useful it would be.
if you can’t get a greater pitch range live, how about letting us do it in the audio editor, like in the old days.
voted
hope Elektron take note
EFFECTS:
- Tuner
- Realtime Audio pitch/ Octaver (for Audio-IN)
- Harmonizer
MACHINES:
- Granular
How do I vote for these?
btw. I’d also like an improved version of the current phaser, chorus, flanger, delay effects.
Btw. Strong objection to item 1, the way it is currently formulated.
You have not specified what you mean at all.
It’s like saying: change the OS so it reads my mind…
I find the organisation of projects is quite logical, maybe not intuitive, but logical.
I ask you to become more specific, because the way item 1 is presented, it’s obviously giving the wrong idea to people.
Also, the poll is proxy-cheatable. It does not make much sense that 6 people vote for something as vague as “project management”? Does it?
this poll is only for general stuff. not for FX/BUGS/MACHINES. perhaps later on we make another poll for additionals?
“Also, the poll is proxy-cheatable. It does not make much sense that 6 people vote for something as vague as “project management”? Does it?”
–yes it does. it’s very important for many people. for me also.
“You have not specified what you mean at all.”
– the name says it!
“I find the organisation of projects is quite logical, maybe not intuitive, but logical.”
– but it should be intuitive. thats the whole concept of the elektron machines, isn’t is? and logical? c’on. it’s just complicated, imo
“It’s like saying: change the OS so it reads my mind…”
– no. it’s not! just organize better stuff.
“I ask you to become more specific, because the way item 1 is presented, it’s obviously giving the wrong idea to people.”
– i think everyone understands what it means!
I have updated the list in the head! take a look.
thanks van! hopefully this will encourage more people to vote : )
Moaning again… ; )
Item five of the shortlist should be: trigger SLOTS via Midi.
Or, if it regards the other thing discussed in this thread:
Assign slice grid via midi.
…Triggering specific slices via midi is already possible.
voting goes well!
save all button doesn’t make sense to me because of the save project option. or am I wrong?
ok. updated
list updated!
not sure if this has been mentioned before,
using the delay-ctrl mode w/ the reverb would be dope. for reverb freezes and blasts and stuff
u can’t load a delay or reverb at the same time so why not? >.>
“why not” is a hard question…
elektron does not publish hardware specs. thats is why we can only speculate whats possible and what not.
I think it is a DSP problem/ limitation. but maybe not…
Note sure if it’s been mentioned before, but I’d like a SAVE-EVERYTHING-THAT-IS-SAVEABLE button. “Save Session”, I don’t care what it’s called. Will save ALL PARTS, ALL RECORDINGS, ALL SAMPLE SLICES/EDITS, arrangements, the current Project, everything.
I don’t know how many hours I’ve lost because I forgot to save one of the many saveable things. Really, the main thing that truly pisses me off about the OT.
aha, ok! now i understand! mainly the recordings. but does’t OT save parts, sample slices, arrangements and everything (except the recordings) by the “save project” option??
