Fully analog stereo compressor

yep, Iā€™ve seen it and read the docs, pretty cool one, I just didnā€™t understand one part:

The Press compressor operates over an audio frequency range of 20Hz to 20kHz which is the
typical range for the human ear.

so it cuts under 20 and above 20k hz? or only responds to that range?

Looks great. Pretty fair price, IMO. Nice to have such hands on control. If I donā€™t already have a Boum, Iā€™d be all over this.

Key sentence: Ā»A filter is used to remove certain frequencies in the audio input to the detection circuit to ensure that only the desired audio ranges trigger the gain reduction.Ā«

Not entirely clear though, if this relates to the sidechain input only.

Reserved at my local store. This should be interesting for Live purposes.

I omitted the rest because the rest obviously talking about the sidechain part, but the first part looks like it cuts the signal, which is not ideal. it could be that the whole paragraph is about the sidechain, then itā€™s ok, but just didnā€™t seem clear to me

Full disclosure: Polyend sent this one along to check out, so I only paid taxes and duty. So take my praise with whatever grain of salt youā€™d like.

But honestly, this is the hardware compressor Iā€™ve long wanted. It gives me all the control/parameters I want, plus it has filtered sidechaining. Basically it allows me to do on the table what Iā€™ve only been able to do in the box using plug-ins.

Super sturdy build. Completely analog, so no bugs haha. Stereo in/out on stereo jacks (wish it was stereo on 2x2 mono jacks, but not a huge deal). Lowest noise floor Iā€™ve ever had from a pedal, especially a compressor, basically as quiet as you can get for noise, which is really impressive. Very transparent compression (meaning itā€™s hard to appreciate what itā€™s doing on audio examples), so not a ā€œcolour compressorā€ but a more versatile tool. All the parameters I use in the box but on a pedal; Iā€™ve never had hardware compression with all these controls. Sidechaining works really well, and best of all, you can feed it the whole drum signal and then filter down the sidechain input so only part of it (usually kick) is triggering the compression. Overall, not at all sexy in its function, but an extremely useful tool that sounds excellent, and great piece of hardware.

If Polyend hadnā€™t sent it to me, Iā€™d certainly have bought it. The Boum is still great for colour, but this is the tool Iā€™ve long needed.

Thinking of pairing this with my analog heat to get a dialed in sidechain i feel like Iā€™ve never been able to get it exactly how I like it with the heat and itā€™s ā€œsidechain filterā€

Really digging this but just wish it had a headphone jack.

Iā€™m sceptical about having a high headroom on a 9V PSU, I think Iā€™d prefer a FMR Audio RNC 1773ā€¦
[Edit] I just realize there are 12V DC and 9V AC RNCs

Came across an extensive written review for the Press. If anyone in here has personal insights with it, would love to hear more!

Same!

Iā€™m debating if k should get one and if this is the one or Chase Bliss Clean is better or OTO Baum. So would love to hear a comparison
