I don’t know if there are two prices. It sounds like those that signed up for the newsletter will get access to the website on Nov. 1st, and then on Dec. 1st the website will be open to the public. At least, that’s what I gathered from the article.

I know they probably had a running start on this if they had access to all the original plans and test data and information, but getting a mechanical electrical beast like this to behave and sound beautiful is a major accomplishment.
Add to that it needs to be reasonable to manufacture, and maintain, and be something you can service and keep in tune. Pretty amazing piece of 1950s technology.

Good point. We see how long it takes synths to come to market, which are mostly circuit boards on the inside. So how long until this one ships, 2 years?

All analog, except for the digital part. I was wondering about the digital part. The effects are all analog right ?
Yup, looks like the whole signal path, even effects are analog on the Rhodes. There is a USB port though.
Maybe the USB is audio out ??
What else could it be, MIDI control of the effects.
There is an effects send and return too.

That would be awesome if it was Midi. Controlling a Rhodes with Midi would be sweet.

Ah yeah but you know it’s not. Would be cool but nah not happening. Man seeing this thing announced is actually making me feel kind of depressed versus excited, I know it’s going to be way more than I want to spend on an instrument but fuck man I want it bad.

I was thinking MIDI control of effects, but that seems a long shot. It’s probably USB audio out which is awesome.

i wonder if this new new will have any effect on used rhodes prices. they’re more than the cost of my first and second cars (separately, but still). my guess is this release won’t have any effect on the old stuff. it’s classic, will always be in demand.
