RIP MF DOOM. this sucks

His character is a villain… that he created as a reaction after his brother died. He had to face his own son’s death as well. I can’t imagine him putting his wife through the trauma of announcing his death just to put a stunt on us.

Very cool, I enjoyed this.

I was actually just checking out the new Madlib album, but had to pause it to watch this.

I usually like Mos Def a lot, still strange to hear somebody else’s voice on that beat

Mr Yasiin Bey doing the honours. Nice to see him, he’s practically disappeared himself I feel.

But I’m with you, I love Yasiin, but being so used to DOOM’s voice & delivery on this one, this sounds a little…off…strange…different.

I was watching I May Destroy You (amazing) and the characters went to hiphop karaoke. And I thought “…oh God that is going to become a thing, isn’t it”

yeah doom is not someone you can replace but then again he’s not trying to do that, I like how it showcases just how unique doom was

lol
can’t be worse than the hiphop cover bands in Vegas

I didn’t know about that and I wish you hadn’t told me and I am absolutely not looking that up.

Mos Def did a few DOOM covers. I believe this dates back a few years now, maybe 2014… Which is pretty cool, as it’s a tribute to an MC he appreciated whilst he was alive and still active.

Mos’s fandom of DOOM is well known. You can hear the DOOM influence on much of his The Estatic album…

Definitely nice that Yasiin did this and it’s authentic and comes from A place of admiration and respect I’m sure. Just saying out of appreciation for MF DOOM, that it is striking how much I miss DOOM’s voice and delivery on that (and personally I’m a huge fan of Yasiin, he’s been my favourite for 20+ years actually :))

it would be great for jay-z, Eminem, Conway the machine, benny the butcher, 50 cent, wu-tang, e40, korupt, Freddie Gibbs, krs, black though, and any others with eststablished cadences to do covers where there are absolutely no edits just the correct music and flows to really showcase the contrast of how doom got down just like mos, it would be really educational… even get the most famous mumble rappers on the project ,

imagine hearing 50cent doing a doom song
