i’m sure, she had quite some great final years of retirement in swizerland…
farewell, private dancer…
Love her version of “Steel Claw” here.
if you could see what’s going on around here
so many people hanging onto the edge
crying out for “revolution” “retribution”
the odds turn out even when you give up believin’…
Written by Knopfler during the writing of Love over gold. You clearly hear those distant, dark tale like vibes and tones from LOG. Have always wondered how it would sound when sung and played by Markie.
I do not like the chorus of that song, though.
I was fortunate to have gone to one of her concerts when I was a kid. One of the best concerts I’ve ever been to.
I guess the chorus would have been almost spoken in a Dire Straits version. Like really held back, in contrast to Tina.
Never been able to decide on this one…
Funkier than a mosquito’s tweeter !
It’s probably common knowledge at this point but tina and the ikettes were on several songs on Zappa’s “overnight sensation” but uncredited (on Ike’s insistence, naturally). The mostly do backups which are fantastic but about midway through the song “Montana” there’s a multi part harmonized lead they do that’s mind bending. It’s only a few bars long and it follows a xylophone line. Apparently it took three days to get the take.
That’s a bit of an understatement.
