^ Think a few guys in the UK have them already, there are a couple on eBay right now, but not at sensible prices I might add…
haha the typical ebay pre-order greed and hype, like when TE OP-1’s were selling for $1500 on ebay…
I’m happily messing with my drumstation sequenced by the MD with midi-machines and full p-lock control of CC’s - Ok, doesn’t sound as good as Aira, but the sequencing is way better!
Can you do multiples of the same sound ? Like 8 bass drums pitched differently?
What? No.
It’s not a Machinedrum.
I’m very interested in the TR-8, especially because all those knobs/faders, but just bought a BCR2000 to set similar controls up for OT and MD, works great but requires several devices on the table
What I’d love to see from Elektron, AGKW or some other guys who build hardware is an old school drum machine casing where you could plug one elektron machine in and get it extended with a range of knobs as on a traditional drum machine. Elektron sound features & oldschool drm machine controls in one merged device. Anybody?

“Motion Sequencing” TR-8 via Octatrack:
A quick & dirty demo of the OT teaching the TR-8 what it should have been able to do out of the box…?
I recommend watching it in HD to see what’s going on in the display.
I like the TR-8, but I’m still saving up for the AR.
HA! Pretty cool.
Everytime a new TR8 user pushes the scatter button a little kitten will be killed.
Seriously, I already hate the scatter function, Roland should be punished for that.
Otherwise: excellent drumsounds. For 808/909 enthusiasts it’s a no-brainer.
I’ll definitely wait a bit too see where roland takes this machine. More than 16 patterns for storage is a must (16x16 at least!) and I really hope they will do 707/606/CR78 Kits and more for it.

I beg to differ, 3 out of the 10 scatter settings are actually quite useful! But I would have preferred to have internal parameter automation… Tanzbär or AR will do that, and Electribes have been since 2003… as well as MPCs… i guess i should just be happy the TR-8 has din MIDI ports and basic CC implementation!

That’s true. I only had the TR-8 for acouple of hours when I did this yesterday so I just fooled aroudn with it.
It has a couple of great features and variations, just have to get to learn them better. This video was more of a test for fun
Regarding the 707/606 and CR 78, they will be available in the updates. The 707 will be available before summer.
This is awesome, I need to get myself an iRig MIDI now!
That’s pretty cool to hear about the upcoming 707 update. If the TR8 turns into kind of a generic housing for interchangeable, high quality, component modeled drum machines, I’m all for it.
I was also pretty baffled to see the decay/env knobs missing from the TB3, but looks like they combined them into the touchpad (which is also pressure sensitive).
While I’m not really sure I get this approach yet (seems a little smart-phone gimmicky), it is pretty out-of-the-box thinking that I do appreciate.
Too bad these didn’t come out ten years ago :]
Hi all,
I tried the Roland TR.08 and TB03.
They both sound good.
For the TB03 I can say that my friend that owns a TB303 and a Cyclone TT303 says the TB-03 sounds really good. It is cheap and easier to program than an original TB303.
Perfect for a live setup.
You just should never dare to touch the scatter button.
Would it have killed them to include the Env Mod / Decay knobs on the TB-3? I just can’t get on with the idea of using a touch screen for that.
I got the tr and tb yesterday. they are not bad. as a closed set there are fantastic. I trying to see how to fit them in with my full set up. Two things:
Side by side test of the tb-3 and the tb-303, the 3030 gives me more satisfaction. I am not so happy with the touch screen, it seems like it is not a major plus. keys and buttons might have been better.
The tr-8 have no side by side old hardware, but it sound solid. I think some pluses are:
[ul]
[li]Gain on amount the side chain to the input.[/li]
[li]Compressors on the Bass and Snare.[/li]
[/ul]
one question to anyone who already spent some time ith the tr-8: how is the shuffle? is it somehow close to the original 909 one?

New track featuring the TR-8. I am really starting to enjoy the Scatter FX.
Sorry if this is a double post, I was having a hell of a time editing the soundcloud link.
