This is a very dumb question, but what do people mean when they say this about the aira’s? That is class compliant audio over usb c? Or that it has a mix input (which I thought was just like an external audio in)? Or that they make a little mixer for the airas?
I’m missing something here
The audio passes through when you run something into the input, so you can hear both things in your headphones or even record whatever you are running into the input into your computer. So for instance, I can run my TR-6S into my S-1 to jam out with just the two boxes and minimal cables.
The P6 is the only one in the series that lets you add effects to whatever is coming into that input.
I’ve been doing some red string cork board theory and pondering some.
So 5/9 Aira compacts are on the market now. I’m still assuming there’s one per color in the works. I like the bright colors, but I don’t necessarily believe they are symbolic of their function or related to older products they may be emulating. I have no real reason beyond the colors on the promotional pages matching some of them, and yet I still wonder what else may be coming….
(Show me what you can do for FM Roland, and purple please!)
A small format mixer where you can connect all, mix them (EQ, pan, compression, mutes, maybe send FX)
That’s battery powered.
The line in is a nice thing, but it doesn’t really give you much options in mixing /scoulpting.
See volca mix but in better, kinda a central piece where your connections come together.
Yeah lots of talk of a mixing one. That likely would be one of the nine.
Shoot, I’ve got several other small synths that only have 1/8” outputs and don’t have any mixers.
Interesting… it could be a direct competitor to the Teenage Engineering TX-6 at a fraction of the cost. That’s not a bad idea at all
With the right features it could be a hit.
There are a couple small format mixers.
But being a fully featured one and battery powered is rare. The tx-6 is more (recording, …) and it’s closest competitors seem to be bluebox and now the zoom l-6. (10 ins, multitrack recording, bigger then an aura compact, ~300€)
A less featured variant of the l-6 for 150-200€ but smaller in size (like the other compacts) could work.
There is also the VMIX–10 by Tangible Waves / AE Modular for 159 Euro
Yeah, just no battery power, and no usb audio, but if those are not needed for sure a good option…except it’s sold out xD
What absolutely killed me was going to the manual afterwards and realising that the five step Konami code is actually what Roland are suggesting even though the box can do a basic ctrl-c ctrl-v for this
https://static.roland.com/manuals/p-6/en-US/index.html#135834507136101899
That’s why I was asking earlier if there was actually a simpler way of backing up than what Roland says in the manual.
VSS30 styles pads would be amazing, I’m wondering if the OG Lofi-12 might be able to get closer to those tonalities though. Would love to hear a side by side comparison.
Also, with the polyphony, are the filter/envelopes etc per voice or per sample? Polyphony or paraphony.
My guess: that part of the manual was written before they decided to add the shortcut.
How does one discover shortcuts that aren’t in the manual? Are there any for the S-1?
how do you do a basic ctrl+v? i see copy is under the play-button, but what about paste?
For steps it’s just the same button combo from what I saw. First time copies, choose the place, second time pastes.
No answers for you. I’m encouraged by the fact that the developer said in that interview with Perfect Circuit he envisioned it being used for drones, so we shall see what it can do once it arrives.
Even if it can’t do exactly what the VSS30 can, it might end up being special in its own way.
this is what i suspected, but a lot of people say things like “you dont need a mixer”, so i assumed it was somehow beyond the sort of elektron “ext in” (w/overbridge) functionality
its nothing really unique i guess, right?
it is a nice feature though, for a multi-aira setup
on another note, i hope my Thonk tall pots arrive around the same time as my P-6 from perfect circuit. went with 4 dark grey, 3 cream and 1 white(natural) for the volume. i wanted some oxblood but they were sold out. kind of hard to color coordinate something nice around that hideous color-scheme it has *(ah, forgot about Small Bear. typical)
The Liven is an awesome machine, possibly a bit archaic in use for younger people, but if you came up with 80’s-2000 era samplers it is easy enough to use, and sound is great IMHO.
