Apparently not known by manufacturer giving how long this issue is on , or at least not until recently…
OK i received literrally the new units , first thing i noticed is scratches on screen , plastic cover , i know but still …
Then i fired it , lowered the led (by the way i wonder if people having this issue are like me , people that lowered led to minimum witch lowers also the screen)
But then i noticed something starnge and here it is , the screen isn’t even mounted straight , it’s angled down on left and up on right !!!
Can’t believe this … not obvious on pics but i think you will get it anyway
At this point i didn’t even received refund for the first one , bougth this one to not lose time , my level of frustration is high , i love this unit , but man ! something wrong with the screen mounting chain …
Question : is there a way for us to re center / posistion screen ?
What’s going on with the QC on these things …
I really don’t know what’s going on with the screen for the last 5 months… I asked support but I wouldn’t say it’s a very rare problem like they said, more of a common problem when I see how many users complain. That should be their priority to resolve as soon as possible.
That’s crazy that your new unit also has a screen issue even if it’s a different issue.
What is the location and the build date of this new unit ?
On my Syntakt, I set the LED intensity to low as I find high and medium too bright. But this is not to avoid the screen issue.
Serial start by : A3E2403 now
Hey everybody!
I also have an issue with screen on syntakt.
Not so huge but still annoying.
I’ve bought it in Poland in November 2023. Didnt use it much as I was busy with work and moving to the U.S.
And today I decided to spend some time using Syntakt and found this on the screen. Maybe in the future will get worse. Idk.
In general screen looks strange. In some places its brighter in some not bright and have some artefacts.
Yep. It looks very familiar. My Syntakt’s issue started with the same artifacts.
I see something similar on my DT from 2021 if I look very, very close but I don’t care.
Obviously there is always some sort of bleeding using these OLED displays. However never had that kind of issues as documented by Zo.
I’m afraid it is like 100% pixelpeeping after taking pictures with a 6000 bucks DSLM / lens combo: You will find always something you don’t like.
All the screens (yellow too) do that, any time there is a long horizontal line of pixels it will ghost.
For what is worth …
Batch without problem so far :
- Poland 2023W43 (deltap, ElectroSyn)
Batches affected by the issue :
- Poland 2023W41 (reported by Bergfotron)
- Poland 2023W42 (reported by helljump)
- Poland 2023W50 (reported by kostabanderas) seem to be affected by the issue.
Batch with “assembling” issue :
- Poland 2024W03 (reported by Zo).
Mine as well made in Poland.
2023-W41
As indicated by other members, the behavior of the screen you reported is normal.
My Syntakt behaves exactly like yours.
After the Syntakt, I’ve purchased a Digitone and its yellow screen has also the same behavior.
As your Syntakt is from the same batch as Bergfotron, it seems that the real screen issue appears somewhat randomly.
What is “normal” is when lit pixels are somewhat dimmed due to other lit pixels on the same line.
What is abnormal is when pixels that should be unlit appear as more or less lit as reported by the OP.
So I meanhwile got a response from the Elektron support team:
We have unfortunately discovered a flaw in a specific batch of OLED screens used in some of our products, which escapes initial detection as it generally appears after a few days. Despite our comprehensive quality control, a number of units potentially featuring this screen issue were inadvertently distributed and are in circulation. The component manufacturer has taken full responsibility for this defect, which is confined solely to the OLED screen and may affect a limited number of units produced during a specific timeframe (however, our analysis suggests the majority of the screens from this batch are fault-free).
Given the difficulty in ensuring that a replacement unit from your retailer will not possess the same problem, as tracking down affected units by serial number is not possible, we advise sending your unit directly to us for a prompt screen adjustment. This approach will be the fastest and most reliable way to resolve the issue. All related expenses, including shipping, are of course covered by the warranty.
I already sent my device back to Thomann and I really hope that my new device will be ok. Otherwise, I will then send it back to Elektron directly…
You should take that out Poland 2024W03 because i didn’t experience the screen issue yet (the screen issue is more a mounting issue .
When the unit back (from service) we will see if the screen experince the issue after some time (usually 3-4weeks)
I must point out the reactivity of the Elektron support to handle my thing , kudos to Christian .
If i didn’t had this level of support , i would have simply moved on and grabbed a akai mpc live 2 or a push 3
I’ve marked the issue with your second Syntakt as “assembling issue”.
Anyway, this screen issue seems to appear somewhat randomly and cannot be tracked with the build date or serial number (see the response from Elektron support in MischaSz’s post).
I am kind of curious (as a Popopopolish person) where exactly the assembly workshop is located in Poland. For instance, could it be the same place Polyend uses? It’s next to impossible to find any details and I for one wouldn’t mind visiting them somehow - from my perspective it’s much closer than Gothenburg. Anyway on behalf of a proud nation of Popopoland I would like to extend my apologies for all your troubles with screens and the QC. I did have a small problem with my DT’s display not being glued down properly (made in Sweden tho), but it’s been fixed now, after a few nights of balance weights placed strategically in the corners
I did notice the corner frames of the screens not being well glued / placed … on both units … nothing crazy but i noticed it , didn t wanted to push it scared of damaging the screen or some …
