love to see that
Yes! Do you mean Atlantik from Cologne/Berlin?
Loving their Style of Techno
Martin Stimming is using 2 Octatrack MKII and a Rytm (maybe) on his Live Gigs.
See him live playing is standing on top of my wishlist!
I enjoyed the Fourtet one massively. Karen Gwyer was awesome and she said at the end, āyeah I would normally spend a lot more than ten minutes to get something goingā. Roni Size was classic, he just laughed and said he couldnāt do a track in ten minutes. Love the honesty! And that guy with the vibraphone, very tasty results.
Iām glad they shut the comments down. Some of those comments were just rude. While I admit I have zero interest in watching someone lay down quarter note kick patterns in ableton with the click track running, it must be good exposure for there music. I have no idea how ATC choose the participants, but if I ever get asked to do it, I would love to!
Dexterās ATC was immensely satisfying. And I learned what I had suspected for some time, that his TR-606 might be the most unique one Iāve heard yet. They all sound a little different after all these decades but his really is something else. He has an interesting mod/breakout box connected to it. Turns the toms into a whole new sound.
Not sure if Xosar has been mentioned here, just found this really cool interview on RA where she talks a lot about workflow/inspiration/machines and the Octatrack specifically (she was an Electribe witch for ages then moved up to OT later). Great pics and discussion.
Her description of how she works with electribe was exactly how I used mine, and I use that same workflow with the octatrack.
I was quite impressed by her Dekmantel set, having ones gear lost but playing a set on a borrowed Electribe is bold. I wonder if she had her own memory card on her, or if he entire set was literally borrowed?
Dunno about the phrase āmoved up to OTā, not sure I agree with the implication that the octatrack is somehow āaboveā the electribe.
I have owned three electribes myself, but eventually I came to the conclusion I worked better with a bunch of synths plus OT. Still love the electribes! if I could clone myself, that clone would be busy creating electribe music!
I saw a Robyn performance on bbc iPlayer a few weeks ago , live at ibiza I think
The music peeps were using elektron A4 / keys I think.
Also had drummer with large kit though I couldnāt hear anything being triggered when she hit a pad , probably just there for the āvisual spectacle ā
Robyn did at least sing live .
The song was ok , very pop , synth sounds couldāve been from many synths , nothing especially āelektronā about them .
She makes that implication herself, and I guess it is above in terms of features. Not necessarily workflow or musicality I guess, but Iāve never used an ESX.
That dekmantel story is wild, Iād imagine she had her card though, would be pretty hilarious trying to stumble through a set with someone elseās samples and patterns.
Totally! ESX/EMX are more fun to play but yeah OT has more depth of features. So hard to pick one over the other!
@Rea_001 posted this Baseck video recently.
Tempest, Digitone, and a mixerā¦
Heās a very creative guy who really surprised me with just a PO35ā¦after 24h.
I think he uses laptop exclusively if iām not mistaken. Havnāt seen him touch the AR/A4 once in the video, mightāve been someone elseās setup. Great artist though!
pretty sure thatās someone elseās gear who heās sharing the stage/line up with.
iām a big fan of his work. love the new album btw. the vocal processing is really nice. heās an in the box guy though does some field recording and stuff. thereās several interviews where he openly discusses his process and tools.
baseck is great. legit bangers when he plays live. saw him play w/just 2 rows of modular and an old drum brain and he killed it and had to do an encore because people wouldnāt let him leave. lol.
if you ever have a chance to hear him DJ or perform live donāt miss it. he does a lot of different styles depending on the night/line up etc but itās all good.
Ah I didnāt realize that. Crazy what he can do in the box. He is one of my faves, especially when it comes to drums/percussion.
