Are you on the latest firmware 1.1.2?
Indeed. Firmware up to date.
Delays and chorus nice and clean on mine. Is this present regardless of playback devices? through mixer, headphones, amplified speaker, etc?
I wrote an article for iFixit about how TE makes the EP-133, and how they addressed the manufacturing problems.
Also, includes pics from the factory!!
Thanks to @te-david for talking to me
reckon theyâll bring per step / pad p-locking to the 133?
Whoa, what a great piece, thanks! Interesting that it ran on iFixitâŚwho pitched the idea to whom?
they basically do with the fader, obviously not as precise but thats not this dudes strong suit
cheers.
thatâs motion recording with the fader tho no? or can you hold a pad when on a specific step & move the fader? I know fx are per group, just wondering about per step here.
im pretty sure you can automate it per step, not per pad tho. tbh more fiddly than i have the patience for but i think its an option
edit: yup just tested, you can do it by holding the rec button and moving the fader while on the step, but it gets confusing quickly for me when making many changes to many steps.
thatâs awesome. exactly what I was looking for. thanks for testing it
I like a bit of chaos
This much infrastructure⌠they are planning a huge run of different EP units. If they drop a new one each year or two⌠wouldnât do this for just a machine or two. I mean unless they are wanting to move more of the overall production to Spain eventually.
Another great write up/article.
Thanks for doing what you do. Itâs so awesome that you are amongst us sharing the love
I pitched it to iFixit. Iâve been writing things for them on and off for some years now.
The sound is present always at some level in delay and chorus ONLY. They must use the same chip to process these effects.
I have been trying to find others on YouTube with this issue. Most people donât demonstrate sounds being soloâd with either delay or chorus, so itâs not been easy to find.
I did find one example of delay noise. Itâs only the first 11 seconds of this video. The
fizzy noise is on the very tail end of the delay fade outs. This noise can become much more or less obvious based on settings.
Here is the best I can find that shows the chorus noise. Itâs just an overall fizzy noise over the sounds in the chorus section being demonstrated. It stands out most at 12:44 through the rest of the chorus section. When he turns the chorus level up from 0, the noise can be heard being introduced.
I wish I had time to record some examples to better show it.
i guess i hear the noise you speak of but its fairly negligible to my ears
Those arenât great examples, but itâs the best I could find. I am away from the EP-133, so I cannot record my own. I really like this device and if the delay/chorus issue I am experiencing is firmware related, I will keep mine. I have a few days left to decide.
I messaged TE with this and we will see when/if they respond.
Intrigued about this, as I canât hear what youâre hearing in those examples. Have you tried using a different pair of headphones or speakers?
Please donât stop making these. Love them! Very inspiring, especially paired with the OP-1.
This was fantastic! So happy to hear Davidâs quotes and see the assembly line. Excellent writing, too!
