Teenage Engineering EP-133 K.O. II

I’m going to make the first gripe, I kinda wish they were soft pads.

Don’t get me wrong digitakt and my other elektron products, I love clicky buttons, but they look like they should be soft. Just saying.

Ordered one so fast when I woke up this morning. I literally just re-upped a DT last weekend (e25 from my local dealer) so I’ll have double the sampling memory and twice the silver. Ofc I preordered from Perfect Circuit so I’m probably like 800th in line and won’t see this until next year.

Usually in this situation I try to find things in the specs that’ll put me off considering buying it.
But having read them, it’s not done that all.

I’ll see if a can record some of my shit patterns later tonight, so that you can get a feel for the sounds…

I currently don’t have any of the factory samples I basically have some samples I recorded from Plaits and some foley from my work

To be honest even with the field it wasn’t sold out for very long. TE doesn’t seem to have nearly as many supply chain issues as other companies have, but we are on the other side of chip shortage era. You’re probably fine.

looks great! I have the OP-1, OB4, TX-6 and a couple of POs so this would be nice addition as well as the microphone and tape recorder. I would pass on the 2k desk however. But I already have tons of gear and need to budget and not buy anything this year and possibly nothing next year before I sell off some gear that is not being used.

You can type a number in the jump to samples which is awesome.

You can even do that for system settings… there’s probably gonna be some wizards who will use it as a calculator

Cuckoo showed that the slider can be recorded. So maybe that’s a way to record the FX?

very happy owner of quite a bit of TE aluminum, but i have to say despite the reasonable price this is a miss for me. the display seems crowded and esoteric, the samples are numerically indexed, and very basic sampling features are behind extensive key combos. seems to target consumers who havent already bought Op1 field.

edit: will still probably end up buying one because the price is so good, why not just have another silly sampler. ha.

I was thinking that this will sell bucketloads more than the Field on account of the price alone.

TE is looking into it… but they haven’t made any promises as if it’s possible to implement.

agree since I have a Roland SP404MK2 and Octatrack no real need and tons of modular samplers. If someone gave me an EP than fine but not buying.

That true. That said I really don’t think it will be that much of a problem, at least for anyone who just preordered in the last hour.

Are they at all open to incorporating a way to record/sequence the punch in FX? Always wanted to be able to do that on the PO’s.

I just checked, mine hasn’t shipped yet!

Yeah. I wonder what other EP devices they’ll make. If all of them will become EP versions. The sub and arcade would be sweet.

If anyone missed some specs.

Stereo samples 6 note polyphony

Mono samples 12 note polyphony

So if all your samples are mono then it has 12 note polyphony…

It has “keys” mode so that you can record polyphonic sequences onto it.

This looks like it’s great fun with the new punch-in FX, but I’m not in the market for another sampler (got an op-1f and an M8). I’ll be the first to order the EP-132 Tonic though!
