The more I listen to cutouts, the more I dig it. Colours fly kinda reminds me of 70s van der graaf generator with the wind instruments and drumming. The drums are probably my favorite part of the whole album. Not only the incredible playing, but also the drum sound and little flourishes like the spring reverb on the rim shots on the slip.
Definitely my favorite smile album so far. I liked the other two, but cutouts is the first one where every song is great and the sequencing works perfectly. The first album really dragged in the second half and the closer on wall of eyes felt kinda forgettable after bending hectic.
