Except, you know, for the A4.
Yeah, pulsn, totally right. The point is… there is no pleasure like anticipation pleasure. Reading a manual is part of anticipation pleasure, so please forgive us to be a little impatient. And an other point: It should be a good manual. Quality first. So we wait.
Peace.
but what about the waiting-for-the-manual-before-the-OS-update-anticipation-pleasure? enjoy the pain

I’ve seen this a couple of times. What’s the problem with the A4 manual? I find it pretty concise tbh.

The internet says that it is bad! How dare you to find it concise?
The first edition of the OT manual was also not complete, but along the time became fine.
IMHO ppl. should step back from their iwantitnowandismustbegoodorihatethem-attitude and relax.
It’s an instrument. I ve never seen a piano, trumpet, guitar or…Serge Modular synthesizer system with a manual. And that costs waaay more than the A4.
Actually in most parts, i find the A4 very intuitive to use. Especially when you have used other Elektron gear before. The AK seems even easier to use, because it has more dedicated buttons, which means less FUNC + button usage.
We all want to know about the poly/unison modes, the new filter, and keyboard mapping. Esp. if the least one will work with my Blofeld keyboard via midi.
Patience, must have you, you g padawans.
Remove the old grease…
So…never say a trumpet is not fat(ty).
Cool!
It is a reference manual. Not a user manual.
In regards to the a4 being a reference manual, the guide that ships printed with the unit is an abbreviated quick start guide. The full manual is on the website (i know this ground has been covered but it seems like many get out their torches and pitchforks beforelooking at that pdf). Many manufacturers (especially smaller ones) don’t ship the full printed manuals .
Just to be clear in all my comments I was referring to the 1.0 Reference Manual.
By the way when I’m reading OT and A4 manuals the voiceover in my head is Cenk’s one.
Is this happening to anyone?
I hear Hector’s voice from the old Monomachine/Machinedrum tutorials.

Yes, the ‘Reference Manual’ for A4 is more of what the ‘Quick Start/Getting Started Guide’ was, for an instrument so deep. Then more thorough ‘User Manual’. Hoping they do as Waldorf did with my Q Keyboard and made the (A4/AK) publication apply to both except where noted for keys and Rack, A4/AK. The Q is actually the deepest monster synth beyond my two versions of Virus, and both companies managed to make awesome User Manuals from Native German in 2001.
Keeping fingers crossed for some great tutorial videos by Elektron as well as users, especially in real use integrated into one’s other keys and even DAW—sorry, but some of us DO like using DAW and it allows more versatility with midi IMHO.
I am just wondering if the Analog Keys recently sold or all will contain a hard copy of User Manual? Will one be available only for download again?
The MonoMachine Mk1 I have has actually a well written hard copy User Manual.
I think the A4 reference manual only felt so slim after the size and quality of the MD and MM physical manuals. I’d have found the A4 a lot more daunting to use if I hadn’t already learned the Elektron way with my MD.
i’m cool with the A4 manual . they state the facts , you do the maths.
i have mostly read worst manuals in the past .
MPC manual for the stock OS was painfull.
JJOS manual is not written properly and over polite but the logic is there.
ms2000 manual was ridiculous …
i think the manual is pretty decent

The manual is fine, but an awesome piece of hardware deserves an awesome manual.
I read MM and MD just for pleasure and they are wide better.

Which is the primary reason I’ve never owned an MPC. I spent a couple of hours trying to figure out an MPC1000 in a shop and got nowhere. Reading the manual was no help at all.

well , i won’t complain if they make it better

did you try to read the manual for the JJOS , its smoother to read even if the english is completely off . i actually enjoy reading it and find it amusing now that i adapted to it . i needed help from friends though to figure a couple things out like file management and timing correction .
