What's next for Elektron?

It would be lovely to have:

OT, but with an integrated synth engine and better quality fx. then add the Korg or Arturia sauce of updating engines and effects (or Moog for that matter who teamed up with eventide for the effects too). BOMB! (OB would be nice too, but then we are looking at a $2000 machine, easy).

the ability to daisy chain any new Devices via USB C (both Audio and Midi Channels) all managed via Overbridge routing app via WiFi or BT.

Built in WiFi Host/Client/AP mode

DigiGrain unit with Granular like the Tasty Chips GR1 with Elektron Sequencer (Poly/Stereo)

DigiSID - SID station reimagined for Digi format? (Mono)

DigiBass - AR Dual VCO’s in a Poly synth setup with proper pitch tracking and distortion (mono x 8 / Poly x 1 with Unison detune/spread)

I would LOVE to consolidate my MPD/digitakt/SP404 into one machine…with extra inputs and outputs…and a crossfader and song mode…and overbridge…come on it’s 2021 a gal can dream

and it would sell like pancakes lol…
every time I look at my model samples I think, even in it’s current very limited state if it could sample they would have sold 3 times as much. You know they understand sample culture so I can’t see them not getting around to putting out an instrument that consolidates just those things that you’ve spoken of eventually

It is said to death, and I bore myself with this,

But an OT mk3, with much more processing power, and generally on steroids (more I/O, more fx engines, and maybe even OB) would sell like sweet cakes. Or maybe not, maybe this is not the most wanted thing, but still, said it again…

PREACH, BROTHER! I wish we had kits on the DT and DN.

As for what’s next, I really wish I could get the Digitone as an iPad app. That’d make me sooooo happy. Esp. if I could make presets on my iPad and send them to the hardware later. I also need Overbridge on my iPad, for reals.

For me going back and forth between digitakt and A4 I initially was very pro kits but once I learned to embrace the no kits work flow I found it oddly freeing. I dunno obviously kits open up more options, but I found that making a new kit every time I copy and paste a pattern as to not screw with the rest of my song to take me out of the flow a bit. Really wish kits were set up as an opt in instead of an opt out workflow. The less you want to use kits the more you are having to engage with the kit interface just seems like annoying design. Maybe I just learn bad workflow on my A4 or something. I do enjoy them both so obviously not the end of the world.

I would like an Analog Eight or an Analog Six. Enough voices that you can do sequenced bass, lead, and pads with one machine. It’s probably too expensive/niche, but it would basically be everything I could want from a synth.

I doubt they would split up a product like that, but it’s what I’d like.

Analog 4x4 !

Love this. I would far prefer physical USB cables between the different devices than relying on wireless connections. Put midi 2.0 and MPE in new boxes too and it would be awesome

Digibox that focuses on Physical Modelling.

This is all I want. Please.

I’d even be overjoyed with an OT MkIII that literally had the same exact DSP, FX, etc. but 8 analog outputs.

I agree. I’ve been using Chromaphone 2 with the Expressive E Touche and I’ve been getting some really nice unique sounds out of it. If elektron did a physical modelling desktop it would need a more expressive interface than pads and buttons to truely take advantage of the sound engine.

I don’t mind too much about the playing surface - I think, like the Digitone, pairing it with what you feel is right is ok with me. But the modulation and plocking of “physical” elements is super exciting to me.

Yes, me too
But still, if they go that route, a little bit more upgrade would be justified…
Maybe put some more attention to pickup machines (like make it an option to let the master pickup change the tempo or not, and making it possible to overdub when OT is slave… I would buy another OT if this would be changed)
And with more processing power I am mostly thinking about the option to have delay in fx slot 1 and reverb in fx slot 2 (I guess this limitation is because of processing power?), and maybe add the same reverb algorithm as in the other boxes

analog designs they can clone without being sued. Less so digital.

Yeah, I’d also hope for some other upgrades too

I thought the newer boxes are all using the OT’s Dark Reverb algorithm?

you got me doubting, but here is a quick found

This will probably be a controversial take, and I doubt Elektron would ever do it, but I’d like a synth module without the patented Elektron Sequencer.

Now before you pillory me for spreading seditious heresy, here me out a minute. I think it would be really cool if Elektron released their take on modules like the Nord Drum 2 and the DSI Tetra. Obviously being Elektron they’d be their own things, but 1 digital and 1 (virtual?) analog module would be so sweet. Might be way to give the people what they want and release sequencer-less versions of the MD and MM.

Like I said, I doubt Elektron ever actually does this, but I think it’d be great and it’d be an instant buy for me. They’ve already got so many machines that can send midi cc, I think it’d be fun if they did a smaller form factor module I could sequence with my pre-existing Elektron gear.

Thank you for listening to my TED Talk. I’ll see myself out now
