Your Setups (Part 2)

Yet the paradox is that we can only see it through a computer.

Iā€™m sorry, my AI has not yet been trained with a response to that query.

Would you like to try one of these other options instead?

  • question about my bill
  • order skin flute repair serum
  • bacon fat related inquiry
  • my election has lasted more than 4 hours

Option 2 is the remedy for option 3, in my case at least.

Iā€™d be interested to know the answer to this as well, @State75

Itā€™s probably just a pole on either side which then passes through a round sheathe or collar of sorts (on either side) which is welded to the desk frame and has a hand screw which locks the pole at the desired height. It must be god damn sturdy in order to trust it right above the mixing desk though.

Dig the 1000. Almost got one, but got convinced otherwise.

Got some anti gas going on. Iā€™m loading linndrum samples into the TR8S. MIDI out to the matriarch, clock out to sync on the mod section.

Matriarch going into ext in of TR8S for side chain. TR8S going into the mixer with Analog heat as an option routed through the sub channel.

Itā€™s a little space station!

While in space, might as well explore

got this patch idea from @Affectionate-Bee-781

Funny how sometimes something as simple as loading up some new drum samples and just playing a synth can be really energisingā€¦ synth setups donā€™t always have to be complicated.

Iā€™m curious about the grandmother and the matriarch in the same setup. Any rhyme or reason to it? I know the matriarch is functionally fairly different but do they overlap much sonically? They do look good together!

Well, being both Moogs and analog, they are very similar, and I would argue that anything the Gma can do, The Maitriarch can as well, but more since it has double the oscillatorsā€¦

But its the dissimilar things that make it greatā€¦ Gma has spring reverb and is mono, so Its great to clock sync and sequence a bassline, and the Maitch is stereo and has stereo delay, so when paired, clocked, and sequenced, you can create a good bedrock of sound. The Gma is way less complex, and more immediate.

But sometimes a petty reason is the Occams Razor of my decision makingā€¦

I had the Gma - monophonic
Got the Maitch (damn you Mike Dean) - paraphonicā€¦ then the only thing missing is polyphonyā€¦

so I bought a prophet 6.

Also, you can cross modulate the Maitch and Gma and really do anything your imagination can patch. My favorite is the Gma of the Moogs, so I specifically use the Maitch more to get comfortable it.

YouĀ“re totally right. No computer anymore in the creative process.

IĀ“ve used DAWĀ“s (Cubase/Ableton) for more than 20 years. But a few years ago it started annoying me. CouldnĀ“t concectrate on music making because of endless possibilities.

So I sold my PC and invested in this gear and that was the best decision for a long time.

In the beginning it was pain in the ass to get used to working limited like this. But I quickly found out, how to work with this beautiful machines. The limitiations learned me so much new in the ways what sound design can be. Getting songs together is a tough one, but I am very impressed, how good everything sounds with only a few fx (instead tons on the PC).

I started working like this last years and it took some time to finish my first track.

For this track I additionally used the SYNTAKT and everything was sequenced via the song mode of the syntakt. This track was my first exploration in the world of Elektron. The beauties (and of course the oppostits, too) inspired me.

I am getting more and more used to this workflow and embrace the limited endless possibilties.

And here I was being jealous of how clean and cablefree your setup looked !

I think cable management is the part I like the most in all this synth and gear game. Even more than drenching stuff in reverb :joy:

In the beginning I had a clean cable managment. But every now and then I take my equipment apart for doing some music somewhere else. So I decided to let everything hang for easy removement.

And the table is able to move up so I can work standing.

Reduced to the max, I would say :+1:.

I would also like to use this setup, but unfortunately I canā€™t live without samples when making music.
