A good place to study Electronic Music & production

Hi guys. I´m 34 and i make electronic music in my studio and several projects. I want to become a better engineer and electronic musician, so I´m thinking to travel somewhere in the world for a month or so, and make a course on electronic music production and music production in general. I was thinking NYC, MIAMI, BERLIN, LONDON or BARCELONA.

Any data would be appreciated.

Also, do you think it’s worth it?

London is expensive , becoming colder and grey as we enter October.
I think most courses started early September , some of the big places do them online ‘at your own pace ‘

Barcelona is warmer , nice beaches , possibly need Spanish though.
Berlin - probably need German.

Or there’s the one to one tuition route.

I’d look into online courses but it’s always nice to visit a city for gigs / change of scene. London is good for most genres of music.

I am in South america. Lima, Peru. No good places here. I want to do maybe a workshop?? Or maybe some intensive course. I am advanced in both producing and composing i just want to be better.

Money is not really an issue right now thanks to my job, but i need some real joy doing what i love, and for that i want to become really good, I feel that right now i got to my “limit” of learning on my own, and I need some PRO advice and practice. I’m thinking about a really intensive course or a semi long workshop.

IMHO not worth it, if you are “advanced in both producing and composing” then just identify what you consider needs improvement and focus on that, but I guess it depends on your end goals, I bet not many of your musical influences did such a course. For me a big part of electronic music production is about finding new paths and the joy of discovering and coming up with your own techniques, etc. If you were starting from point zero then maybe such a course would be a good fast track, but chances are it would be a bit boring for most people with a few years experience, and of course there are tons of free tutorials on youtube etc for any areas where you might need a leg up.

Also maybe I’m a bit biased to the old addage “those that can’t, teach” though.

I went a few years ago when it was in Berlin and learned a lot, even just being round like minded people. It’s awesome.

i dont know on which level you are. but you can find some decent online courses when you look around at macprovideo (for starters), dance music production (a great resource) or sae. to become great in a specific topic, you can also hire an individual trainer. I would step away from „Masterclass“ how they called it, few infos for too much money.

I will check it out

I’m really looking for the experience also that’s I want to travel somewhere to learn what I love away from work and life.

Been operating here in Sydney Australia since the 80’s. Now there’s branch colleges all over, Europe, even Columbia.
Mostly long courses over months to 2 years. My bestie got his diploma in AE there back in 91. He loved the joint. Recently had a conversation with an ex-teacher from there who said he taught short courses.

Ps. Come to Sydney. Best beaches, best air, best ppl in the world.

I’d suggest go somewhere you like that also has a thriving scene for the type of music you like. Do a course dedicated to what your interested in and get involved, make friends, party!

An old friend of mine studied at the sae in Scotland, now works as a sound engineer in Sydney!
