but language is important.
i only heard Autechre because i happened to go to a record shop the week LP5 was released and was subjected to a shop employee raving on and on about how if this bands new album was anywhere as good as their last (he mispronounced it as “Chaotic Slide” the entire time lol) i should buy it and wouldnt be disappointed. after the life altering experience of hearing LP5 and running back to buy Chiastic Slide a few weeks later, my experience was that it was completely overrated to me initially, it really took me a while to open up to chiastic (still not in my top 5 ae, but i’m also not much a “rater” and prefer to ruminate on the journey and evolution). all of this is pretty subjective isn’t it, which is probably why statements so strongly centering you’re personal opinions and taste can be sort of off-putting and authoritative feeling to read and respond to, at least through text-based online convo.

Yeah, dropping ae at the end of a bunch of dreadful brostep and pop bangers feels a bit desperate. Like, rather than doing anything cool or interesting with your set, just drop ae at the end so everyone can see how edgy you still think you are.
Compared to what Aphex achieved at Field Day (without even breaking a sweat) last year, this is fucking embarrassing.

not at all, the next batch of AE_Live should be out by the end of the year according to Sean on whatever social thing he uses. It’s probably the 2023 gigs, maybe a few from early 2024.
