Ableton Move [Archived]

Is sample slicing available as a feature of the sampler?

Not a feature in Drum Sampler and Simpler - AFAIK - isn’t supported on Move :frowning:

So what’s the note capacity of one clip? I’ve only seen one bar loops made.

16 bars x 16 steps each = 256 steps / notes

Per clip? So 256 x 8 per instrument?

You can also nudge the notes. Press the step button and the arrow buttons to move them.

Click on the jogwheel, then shift+click on the current preset, it displays ā€œoptionsā€, click ā€œSave Presetā€.

16 steps in a row will be quite nice. 8x8 for sequencing like on the Push messes with my brain for some reason.

No.
You can’t even set a global time signature.

Just tried to order a Move. Didn’t work. When I clicked ā€œBuyā€ (and checked the agreement button), it sent me to a page ā€œpowered by Stripeā€ that didn’t load, and then my entire browser froze.

Maybe I was unclear.
You can use the parameters mapped to the encoders, dial the sound you like, then save it as a preset.
If you know Osmose, that’s basically the same.

Same here. I’m excited about the 16 buttons at the bottom.

Yes, you were unclear but I figured what you meant   Thanks :+1:

Are there separate preset types for individual Drum Samplers (e.g. for kicks, snares, hats) and for whole kits in Drum Rack (e.g. 909, etc)? The latter for sure, but the former? I’m guessing no?

This is for payment. Maybe try another browser? Worked flawlessly for me 30min ago.

says so in the knowledge base:

You can make your own folders from Move Manager.

As we know there are significant limitations on this device, so I won’t mention those, but instead, why I got one and what I’m excited about even though I have a P3SA.

  1. Ableton sketch pad
2)An educational device to teach my 8 year old daughter how to make musical ideas (she’s into her second year of piano lessons)
  2. 16 step (in a row) of xox style sequencing on both the device and while controlling Live
  3. Sampling directly to a pad in drum rack! I’m most excited about this feature.

My main question: I wonder if it’s possible to sample directly to a pad while controlling Ableton Live and if I can use Move and P3 as controllers together at the same time (I haven’t had time to look at the manual yet).

Looks like there’s still a lot of firmware/feature updates to come. It’s also not full parity with Note. Only tracks 1-4 from Note will be transferred to Move and vice versa. If you’re an iOS/Mac user, you can move Sets via AirDrop. That’s a nice touch. Perhaps one of those upgrades coming to Push SA would be its CPU switch to ARM instead of Intel.

Still curious to know if those empty unlit spots below the step buttons are hiding any other features yet to be turned on.

Same!

I ordered one. It has limitations, but it is the closest to my version of a complete Groovebox that I have seen.
