Yes you and @jrjulius are correct it does work. Not sure what I did wrong yesterday, but today it worked fine.
Works really well. I like having Note as a extension of the Move
Thank you both.

Are you using the same synced project on both Note and Move?
I did initially. But I now I am using it to extend the four tracks on Move with the eight on Note. Ableton Link seems to do a really good job keeping both in sync.
I tested all my sequencers and I have to say:
Move has the fastest workflow for me.
Especially compared to Push Standalone:
Sequencer Shootout Ableton Live, Move, Push, Squarp Hapax, Oxi One, Polyend Tracker Mini
I’m interested in hearing more about your workflow if you’re open to sharing. I haven’t used Link before. How are you using it to extend Move’s four tracks to Note’s eight tracks? That sounds super cool. Thanks.
so for those of you on abletons discord and other high and low places of knowledge, has Ableton said anything about side/chaining, or End trimming since it’s already got Start trim?
End trimming is already a thing it’s a shift function on knob five… side chaining is on the feature request list and currently sitting at 189 upvotes…
And how are things like audio tracks, full midi implementation, midi tracks? Granular? Anything hinted towards those?
ABLETON MOVE 1.4 IS OUT NOW
Infro from discord as well about auto-filter
“You may have noticed that Live 12.2 includes an updated Auto Filter and the new Auto Filter is also coming to Move (and Note). To insure that your Move projects can be opened in Live, Auto filter will be arriving on Move once Live 12.2 is out of beta.”
Yeah sure. Its not that sophisticated really
Thanks to @Elijah and @jrjulius I can connected my iPad and Move together using the USB-C cable. And then by enabling monitoring I can hear the iPad through the Move. I have Ableton Link enabled on both which does a good job keeping both in sync.
Then I start with a set on the Move and work on that until I run out of tracks. I then Ableton Cloud enable that set and then open it in Note on the iPad. I then start a second set on the Move and have that playing its tracks while playing the first set on Note. Then if I want to make changes to the first set I cloud enable the second set and load that on the iPad and reload the first set back on the Move and make changes. Cloud seems to do. really good job at keeping both sets unto date. I could just make changes on Note but I actually prefer using the Move to update the sets.
I only use 4 tracks of Note so I can swap the sets between both devices.
Hope this rambling post answers your question
Thanks @mattp for the explanation. That all makes sense and is an elegant way of fusing the two workflows. I’m definitely going to try it and agree with you that while I really like the visuals and user interface of Note, it’s much more fun to play music on Move. Your approach gives musicians the best of both worlds. Thanks for the great idea!
Forgot the shortcut, but what was the combo to enable shift mode to be on longer if that makes sense?
Press shift twice.
doh, thank you
No problem. Happy to share
It’s not all good, because it uses Ableton Cloud it does mean that both devices really need to be on some sort of WiFi.
However I have a bunch of Drift presents I installed that someone had posted in this thread and despite not being able to add presents to Note they are kept when sending sets from the Move to Note
Oh yes and I forgot to say that when you finished with Move/Note you can easily combine both sets in Live just by dragging the .abl file on to session view.
Now I’m thinking that 2 Moves would be a good idea…
I’ve had a crash already while quantising a single drum pad.
Im starting to question wether I actually need my move now, it’s a nice bit of kit but the more I utilise the launch key mk4 the more obvious it is that if you already have live and a bunch of decent plugins then move becomes a bit redundant… to sell or not to sell
I’m loving it as an Ableton controller. The integration is fantastic! The time spent making music and practicing performance vs programming MIDI controllers to ‘sort of but not really’ do what I need is well worth the price of admission.
I use my launch key mk4 and a launchpad pro mk3 with Live. I like the Move but use a Polyend Tracker mini for my portable fun.
