Yeah, from the specs it looks like they just added a bunch of controls to the MPC Live. Itās a pity, because the hardware platform could use an upgrade (mainly CPU/RAM).
But the new price is great ā¦ its competing with the Digi line. If the pads are good this could become my drum machine (still hesitating from the Digitakt due to its mono input and playback).
This looks like a compelling package. I like the mix of samples and synth elements and I could well see myself failing to resist getting one at some point.
Besides the hardware changes in terms of IO, battery, and storage, is this exactly like the Live in terms of functionality? If so, thatās pretty baller.
Added CV plus way more direct buttons like on the X. Absolutely bizarre move from Akai but great for consumers imo, surprised itās not getting a better response. Itās much too soon to expect a complete overhaul I reckon. I loved the squishy buttons on the live but coming from a 1k the clicky buttons might be a nice bit of nostalgia
