Analog Four MK2 (Gray) – Some Buttons Require Multiple Presses to Respond

I recently got a used Analog Four MK2 (Gray) and the seller said it’s been sitting with not much use for several years. It’s in excellent condition, but I’ve noticed that some buttons require multiple presses to enable/disable functions, even though they are not sticky or physically damaged.

What I’ve Tried So Far:

:heavy_check_mark: Pressing the buttons repeatedly to see if they “wake up”
:heavy_check_mark: Leaving the unit powered on for a while
:heavy_check_mark: Checking for any visible dust or debris around the buttons

The issue isn’t happening on all buttons—just several of them. After repeated pressing, some buttons seem to improve slightly, but they still don’t feel as responsive as they should.

Possible Causes I’m Considering:

:one: Oxidation or dust buildup on button contacts from being unused for a long time
:two: Tactile switch wear (though the unit wasn’t heavily used before storage)
:three: PCB connection issue affecting button responsiveness

Has anyone else experienced this with their Analog Four MK2, particularly the gray version? Could it be that the buttons just need regular use again to restore normal function, or should I return it? It’s kind of annoying using the step sequencer right now after a couple days.

Would appreciate any insights or solutions from those who have dealt with similar button responsiveness issues!

I’ve experienced some of this with my gray A4 mk2 — like you’re describing, none of the buttons feel sticky or or damaged, and it doesn’t show up in all of the buttons, but I definitely have moments where I have to double-press to get where I’m going.

I have decently fast muscle memory with Elektron boxes so I have some key combos that are fluid/fast on other boxes but take an extra second of “did it actually work or do I need to press it again?” on the A4mk2.

I don’t have any solutions to offer unfortunately, just solidarity. Wonder if there are more of us out there…

I don’t have the issue with my A4 mk2 but I have experienced it with my DNK, a solution is first to run the device in test mode to check if there is some faulty buttons.
If not, you can pop the concerned button off with something thin like a credit card, then blow (with your mouth or preferably a dry air spray) into what is under it while pushing repeatedly with you finger to try to remove the dust that may be responsible.
The issue can comeback, but I had good results with this technique.
