the a4 ABSOLUTELY sounds richer / more open & alive with the 1.1 update.

Exactly!

if you put an X it means this track will be part of the polyphonic group, so this track can use other poly tracks’ voices, and its voice can also be used by them.
any combination works, e.g.:
[X] [ ] [ ] [X]
means track 1 and 4 are polyphonic, and both can use the 2 available voices.
…and you’re left with two other voices to have fun with …nnice…
Amazing update ! Thanks Elektron !
Cruel to be stuck at work right now… Has the low-end / bass ability been improved?
call me crazy but, yes, the bass seems deeper / more solid with less aliasing / breaking up

Bass does sound better. Less timid and slightly more ballsier than it was before. The oscs sound different too.
I brought it to work (I couldn’t not). I’m just running through the new preset patterns. Lovely sounding stuff. Quite inspiring. Haven’t had a proper play yet though.
reminds me of an analog blofeld… if that ever were to exist… minus wave table but elektron modulation capabilities make it sound almost like wavetable lol
I just spent a few hours with it, and it’s simply put, a completely new machine !
The simplicity with which one writes a new song in a few minutes is astonishing !
The new sound manager and the +Drive completely change the machine, it feels like a whole world of possibilities just opened right in front of my eyes
All those great patches readily available suddenly gave a new groovebox twist to the A4
And I haven’t even touched the polyphony, which seems very well tought out… (polyvalent, adaptable, going with the flow, transparent…)
Elektron, thanks for your amazing work and dedication, you guys are out of this world
im convinced the elektron engineers are surely extraterrestrial
There’s definitely some changes to the overall sound, particularly on the bass end. Just in case I did a comparison.

Even just looking at the waveforms you can see pretty significant differences.

OS1.1:
re: sounds better, is that for new sounds with the reso boost enabled? the ladder filter certainly is a lot more interesting that way… love the noise it can bring & its unstable nature when pushing it!
also the new factory patches, there’s some really good stuff in there…
but what about your own sounds/kits/patterns pre 1.1, you’re saying they also sound different now? I’d say mine sound pretty much the same really, actually listened to some recordings and compared… interesting!
Man, I’m so intrigued as to what kind of work you do. You always seem to be posting stuff like “did this little thing at work”, sounds like a great job you have!
There seems to be a volume difference between the updated stuff.

I’m a music teacher, and not many classes before christmas so I just sit at my desk and twiddle!
Bass sounds better in general. I had been very critical of Filter 1 and the lack of sub-bass power compared to other gear, this is a huge improvement.
as someone who just got the analog four, would you recommend i immediately upgrade to 1.1, or should i wait until i’ve learned the current interface? it’s less of a question regarding the sound and more of a question about how the interface changes will affect a new user.
thanks!
All the new stuff is under the surface. Just upgrade and use poly and multimap as and when you need it. Otherwise it will look pretty much the same apart from the sound browser which is pretty much extremely useful! That’s not to say it’s not different, but the old stuff is all still there.
