Anyone using Shure SE535 or SE425 for production and mixing duties?
Are they suitable?
Any other IEMs you’d recommend?
Max £500 budget.
I’m also looking at the Neumann NHD 30 and Audeze MM-100 as non-IEM alternatives.
Thanks.

they are really amazing IEMs.
do you need them for stage use?
if not and build quality isn’t such a huge issue I really like Salnotes Zero 2. and they are like $25.

I need them for producing. TBH, I don’t see how $25 IEMs can compete with the Shures. Thanks
I’ve used those $25 IEMs for some critical money making production projects before.
they are pretty great. And that’s compared to my ever growing collection of closed back and open backed cans.

The IEM market has gone on some insane race to the bottom since I lasted messed about with the expensive end of Shure’s IEMs around the 2010s.
Just got a pair of 7hz Zero 2s based on a load of recent reviews I saw on YouTube for £25.99 - I cannot believe how accurate they sound! You could totally produce with them, although wouldn’t rely on them without other cans and/or monitors.
My Shure IEMs years ago were my daily drivers and I loved them - they’re amazing. But those models were not as accurate as these “budget” IEMs coming out right now. Honestly, it’s bonkers.
You would be crazy to spend £500 at this moment. For ~£100 there are highly accurate and solidly built IEMs out there. Spending more would mean rapidly diminishing returns.
Look up Truthears for example…
yup…it’s amazing.
3d printing metal with very clever acoustic cad designing for the tuning… totally wild.

I loved every minute of my moments with the Shure 535 and 215. Last IEM pair I got was a weird one : Unique Melody ME.1 which I still have but don’t use much or at all for the moment. It is an open IEM with planar drivers. Imagine the technology of an Audeze headphone into IEM format.
I had the SE535 in the past and although it sounded pretty good, their frequency range is much worse than the before mentioned cheap IEMs. Over the years I tested several IEMs and most sucked compared to regular good headphones. I bought the Crinacle Zeros a while ago and they are very neutral but still do have some sub bass! Which the Shures lack completely. The Zeros are neutral and sound good, period. Sure, the resolution could be a bit better but you also don’t get that in every regular headphone.
tl;dr: Educate yourself and don’t go for oldtimers like the Shures. Here’s a nice site with good measurements: TRUTHEAR x Crinacle Zero IEM Review | Audio Science Review (ASR) Forum
what do you all think of IE200s? Anything around 100gbp including chiFi.
It seems that this 3D printed resin manufacturing process is able to produce really accurately built products. Together with the competition, the costs are so competitive. It’s a great moment for IEMs.
I don’t have experience personally, but maybe someone who does can chime in?
I’d say do a search on YouTube for IEM reviews around $150 and see what the recent market is like.
With the Zero 2s, obviously they’re not the best out there, but they’re a great example of an amazingly good product at a very low price point. Any “neutral” IEM around $150 is going to absolutely deliver for music production at this moment.
I went for Neumann NHD30 in the end. But thanks for the recent replies
