Apple AirPods Max

I just glad that I came thru the 90s…used to save for one good product and the rest was spent on music/shows , books, mags and of course nice mod/rude boi outfit …

that price would feed me for many weeks

but I were “rich” I might consider it…nah

It’s the elegance of Apple design, don’t you know.

after four happy years with my old iphone se (…i use my phone ONLY for comunicating with others, navigation and for listening to various sonic stuff…no fb, no tinder, no other bullshit…) i had to buy a new one and therefor needed a bluetooth headphone set up for the first time…
got me those in ear ones, with a short cable inbetween the two sides, so u can let hang loose around ur neck if ur not listeing to anything…they’re from beats, some pro version in black for 200 bux…and i was pretty sceptical BUT i must confess…it’s a great thing in daily use…music sounds totally ok, talking to people and siri worx flawless with one tip of my finger, still can’t figure out though, where this damned thing has it’s mic hidden, that let’s me talk even far away from that phone or in my pocket with good connection and loads up within an hour to make the battery last for at least 6 hours…
deal…

bluetooth and cans?..i don’t think so…in white?..never…

If these were priced “correctly” then they would be attractive. The headphones have nice features and are stylish. I have no idea if they sound as good or better than my DT 770s but if they do I’d consider them. But . . . not for $550!! That’s crazy. Who does Apple think it is? Teenage Engineering?

Yeah these look a bit ridiculous to be fair especially at that price.

Apple gear is as much (if not more) about signaling as it is about the product itself.

I know plenty of people who will buy these just to be seen having/using/wearing them nonchalantly as if they‘ve always had them and you and I are actually late to the party.

Apple knows this and their pricing reflects this.

I find their new M1 computers exceptionally priced and great value-for-money, all their accessories though (including headphones) are notoriously overpriced.

EDIT: I do own plenty of Apple devices (all my computing gear) and enjoy their products as well, so no blanket diss

I cannot put into words how much i hate this company from my deepest heart for turning costumers into dumbass defenders of products that lack in so many ways and are big time too overpriced for what they are capable of…and how schizophrenic it feels to appreciate iOs developers for all their brilliant work they put into audio apps.

that about sums up the computers ‘have replaced dedicated equipment’ scenario. I mean I used to compare the robustness of a firewire connector vs an XLR jack when I maintained recording & mixing studios (in a music school). Everyone I know with a 2 or 4-port laptop is either using it as a typewriter or is a developer (a slightly different kind of typewriting nowadays) and everything wireless.

More specifically, as a long-time Mac audio user, I think the last ‘physically studio-grade’ machine I had was a beige desktop with a G4 upgrade and a digidesign card - but performance wise: it would be laughable now.

This is almost 100% a labor of love, it’s crazy…

That’s the optional wire (in case you don’t want to use Bluetooth) for a ‘bargain’ 35 quid! :joy:

And that makes me so upset. Apple’s store system is practically a crime…

It’s so weird that it’s not listed as a connectivity option… that is hysterical and I bet a regular cord from anywhere else won’t work because of some security chip or whatever haha… I mean I guess that makes it more usable for audio work. But yeah, I can’t imagine it’s got a very flat response so… I dunno haha :man_shrugging:

Oh definitely don’t get these for mixing. They’ll be bass and top heavy like Beats no doubt.

You must be joking, their new line up is heavily overpriced as everything else they are selling. I own both iPhones and a MacBook Pro but I get REALLY annoyed by their pricing.

$699 for a stationary computer that has enough power to edit 4k 10bit footage without any performance issues? Or can run upward of 90 tracks with over 500 plugins in Logic without choking?

An ultra portable, completely silent and equally powerful machine at 1.25kg with a quality screen and built from quality materials (with attractive industrial design) - and 18hrs(!) of real world battery time…for $999?!

Show me a comparable deal ANYWHERE.

Not kidding at all, this new lineup is incredible value for money and not comparable to their terrible pricing over the past 5-7 years.

Why do people keep buying this shit? Seriously.

Man QFT so hard…I bought a (used, refurbished) iPad to step into the world of audio iOS apps and I’m glad I did because there are a lot of fun, well-priced apps on there, but I have this insane hatred toward the company and try my absolute best to dissuade people from buying their stuff. Even people come here asking what kind of laptop to buy and I always tell them they can buy a Lenovo or something else for 1/3 the price and get the exact same computing power and won’t have to deal with dongles and whatever proprietary bullshit Apple decides is the latest, best thing.

I bet Rick still buys Apple products for some boneheaded reason.

Also Logic sucks. I hate that DAW. It’s so unintuitive. Learning Logic and Studio One side by side was night and day. One of them made perfect sense and everything flowed, the other left me scratching my head constantly and always wondering why it was designed the way it was.

The AirPods Max does support audio via lightning to 3,5mm connector.

Lightning isn’t the worst connector for having a swappable audio cable. It stays in place.

Why does this remind me of the Behringer gear thread?

Very little talk about the actual product. Then it takes a hard right turn. Suddenly, a meteor comes crashing through the atmosphere. People start screaming about how the company is Satanic demon sent to destroy everything good and safe for children in the world.

It’s just headphones people…

This. The old Intel pricing was out of line but still if you had the cash just the the trackpad was worth it for me for a laptop you will work with every day. I still haven’t found a trackpad anywhere else that doesn’t make me want to scream. Throw in POSIX comparability for developers (still beats Linux subsystem for Windows) and the lack of VST support / creative app support on Linux and for many people there are still no other great options.

IMO the new ARM chips and pricing make it a good deal instead of a “deal with the devil” again. Just need to wait the 12+ months for decent compatibility sigh
