They where out of stock? Selling 1000 units in a couple of days are impressive. The synth world isn’t that big.
Thats not that long to wait. I was lucky, and is in the mail. Thomann are quick to ship things in stock! Probably gonna get it early next week.
Any takers for some research …
Please tell us whether MIDI mod wheel affect the MW modulation setting or if it is only CV that can be used ?
Also what is LFO CV input controlling, is it rate or does it expect an alternative LFO profile to arrive and remove the internal LFO patching ?
How do you input rests into the seq ?
Does the sequencer transpose when MIDI notes are played ?
Can the pulse width be 0/100 or is it constrained ?
what happens when the Seq and Arp are on and midi is played ?
How hot does the incoming CLK need to be to trigger repeat like the LFO, will it play with small Korgs or Arturia sync devices ?
Does it handle pitchblend and if so, what is the range ?
How freakin’ awesome is that HARD SYNC ??
with those questions i suggest you buy one and figure it out.
if it doesnt do what you want you’ll be able to return it.
Not available for UK plugs folk. No harm asking, much cheaper and simpler
I’ll have a go when i get mine. I was reading the quick start guide earlier today, but they just wrote what everything was. I tried looking for a description on how the sequencer works. Can you insert rests on the original?
Pretty shure DivKid showed that the PWM went to 100. But maybe not to 0. It went silent when he turned the pwm fully clockwise.
Cool, I vaguely recall the divkid vid now, great. I believe rests were possible, but I am not 100%.
The main one is modwheel via midi and the LFO CV possibilities.
Found a manual for the original. And rests are possible. Its done by flipping the Record/Play switch. There is a lot of strange stuff on the original. Like if you enter 1 note too many in the sequencer, everything dissapears. hehe.
Funnily enough, looking at the faceplate that was my only idea !! Good to know, I expect it is implemented.
Yeah it’s dreamy huh? I have access to an original Pro-1. It’s old and quirky as hell. Just makes these crazy sounds ( I actually think after all these years, it might need service)…Had my friend, the owner of that Pro-1 over the other night and I was showing him the Repro-1…and I was just showing some of the presets, making these insane other worldly sounds…Anyway, he was like "try turning off the effects on that patch…so, I did…And all that other worldly shit disappeared and you just had a good old mono synth. Still sounded amazing…But, I guess what I’m saying is that… The Repro effects are are beautiful, and having control over them in a controller would be soooo much fun, and add 100% sound design to the original Pro-1. Yeah. That.
Synthtopia flame wars over a midi controller vs Bro-1 … it’s good to be back here.
But interesting concept. Would prefer a neutral controller a la Faderfox with overlays for sure.
Bro wars😝 … The Behringer synth looks great. I would love to play one, especially for that price. But, like I said I have access to one already. I’ve also had access to a Prophet 5. Strangely, it also didn’t really tickle my synth bone… But the U-he Pro 5 sounds sooo beautiful. It must be the effects. Although the original Prophet 5’s filter had its own sound for sure, almost a matallic resonance. It’s funny that Behringer is doing something that all these companies should have done years ago. Re-release their most coveted pieces with updated features. I’m sure loads of people would buy a re-released Pro-1, old school style, like this one and folks would have payed a premium… But, whatever. Until they release an updated Nord Modular (or a Synthi)I have plenty of synths. That controller just looks fun is all I’m saying.
Agreed.
Dave keeps saying he has no interest in rereleasing his old gear. Even palmed the modern ProOne over to Pioneer, so it’s not as if he completely abandoned the concept. INHALT demoed how similar they sounded, but I couldn’t recreate some Vince Clark sounds on it, so the Bro 1 is going to be my next attempt.
only had a couple of minutes to play with yesterday, but
Midi mod wheel is working and Hard Sync is freakin awsome
Thanks, the video above helped too, especially with regards to the LFO CV input which controls rate and can push the LFO range further into audio territory.
This Pro-1 looks and feels much nicer than their 808 clone I tried a few weeks ago. Pleasantly surprised.
By the way, anyone any idea what spectrum analyser plugin loopop is using for these videos?
