Can the Heat be a good noise gate?

I’ve been interested in noise gates lately, and there aren’t a lot of great options outside of Drawmer, DBX, and Aphex for pro audio. I was wondering if the Analog Heat could somehow be a good noise gate by modulating levels with the envelope follower.

Not an answer regarding the Heat, but don’t overlook Symetrix.

Never tried and the question made me curious. Did a quick test. Badly recorded with iphone in one hand and the other to control but is this what you mean? In this first attempt you look at AH in overbridge. One noise track and one looped sample. The trigger treshold below the noisefloor controlling the AH master amp volume

Cool. It looks like it should work as expected. I’m interested in using it to clean up some noise between drum sounds after processing them with FX pedals. The neat thing with the Heat is being able to process the sounds a bit more too while making it perform this basic function.
