Changing channel for MIDI channels

This might be a very stupid question, but how can I set the channel that MIDI channels 1-8 of OT MIDI sequencer listen to? It‘s right there for audio tracks (TRIG CH in Project MIDI menu). This is also well explained in the manual.

But what if I want MIDI sequencer track 1 to receive keyboard notes on a different channel than the auto-assigned channel 9? I know I can set the auto channel to the out channel of my keyboard, but then I always have to be in MIDI sequencer mode and select the track that I want to receive that note data. Maybe @sezare56 knows a way, since he suggested using MIDI track receive channels instead of auto channel?

Midi tracks term is less confusing than “Midi channels 1-8 of OT MIDI sequencer” imho.
Their midi channel isn’t defined or auto-assigned, it has to be set in SRC > MIDI NOTE SETUP page, in Midi mode.

No other way. Almost everything concerning midi tracks parameters is set on the related midi track, not in project settings.
(Except Auto Channel, and CC DIRECT CONNECT option; there are also Scale Per Track and PLAYS FREE settings in PATTERN SETTINGS menu, Midi mode).

You can set midi tracks to any channel in MIDI NOTE SETUP page. But :

Thanks! I‘m afraid you misunderstood me since there is so many ways this can be misunderstood.

I want to able to control on which MIDI channel OT MIDI track 1-8 receive notes or CC. MIDI note setup under SRC of a MIDI track afaik only sets on which channel OT sends out the note or CC information programmed in the sequencer of the respective MIDI track.

So what I‘m trying to do is this: I want OT MIDI track 1 to receive a note from my keyboard when my keyboard is set to send MIDI notes on channel 14, OT MIDI track 2 to receive a note when my keyboard is set to channel 15, and OT MIDI track 3 to receive a note when my keyboard is set to channel 16. Without me having to enter OT MIDI sequencer mode, so that I can still mute/unmute audio tracks while playing the keys.

Send…and receive.

Doable. Just set midi tracks channels accordingly.

There is also Quick Mute mode if you want to mute audio tracks in midi mode.

Perhaps you are aware of this already but just in case you’re not: When you change a MIDI track’s MIDI channel in the second SRC page you need to press YES to apply it, otherwise the setting will revert. It’s something I occasionally forget first time I try to change a MIDI channel, and it’s slightly confusing because as far as I am aware no other setting on the OT works like that.

Yes I‘ve learned this but tend to forget it from time to time. But I think @sezare56 provided the final piece of info that it defines send and receive channel. Thanks .

All MIDI NOTE SETUP settings, and also CTRL1 and 2 SETUP settings. Encoder press also works, but I prefer Yes.

Aye I also just realised the track machine selection is like that too. I think it’s just one of things that I have to do so infrequently as I mostly keep the track/machine setup and those other things the same, so having to do it occasionally for some things and not others feels like a discontinuity in the UX.

Sample slots…probably other things…another confusing thing at first is to have to press Func to activate CC1-10…
