Currently using my syntakt with my external synths using a common midi chain
I was wondering if I could control my 3 external synths with syntakt by USB (going through Ableton and overbridge)
Never tried this method ,any pros and cons ?

You might get some latency or experience varying degrees of midi jitter depending on how much cc data you’re sending. If it’s just note and sequence probably less issues.
I wouldn’t see any advantage in using ableton as the intermediary device though. I think as long as you don’t need ableton to control your external synths and none of them are soft synths within ableton, it would be better to keep that midi chain separate.
You could still start the ableton transport with the syntakt, or start the syntakt transport with ableton.
As far as using this set up along with overbridge, I’m not sure how that will impact your sequencing of external gear from the syntakt but I assume it’s not going to change much.
Depending on how you currently record into your computer (audio interface / mixer / etc) you could even route the external synths’ audio through syntakt’s inputs and into overbridge via USB because OB has a dedicated track output for the external inputs to the mixer, or you could probably run overbridge in parallel with your existing audio interface but the complication in setting that up may depend on your computer and operating system.
Either way, unless you have a specific reason to use ableton as the middleman for your hardware synths, I think that it will be less stable than whatever you currently have going. I do think that you can likely use syntakt with OB and ableton and still maintain what you have now without changing much of your current setup.
Maybe someone else can give a second opinion, but I’d approach it from that standpoint rather than trying to change the midi chain too much right now.
Theoretically it should be possible to send midi from syntakt into ableton over USB and out of ableton through a USB midi hub back into a din cable then have the exact same set up midi chaining your external synths together but there just doesn’t seem to be any advantage to that which I can think of, especially if syntakt will still be doing the sequencing.
