Convince me to not buy an Octatrack or convince me

Convince me to not buy an Octatrack or convince me!!!

Buy it, try it see if you like it if not sell it.

If you can’t use search, you won’t enjoy the Elektron/Octatrack experience.

Just the fact that you are raising this query is a good reason for not buying it

Do you like crossfaders?

You’ll never know if you don’t try

Any chance you’ve been occasionally arachnophobic in the past? I’d factor that in

If you believed Jermaine Stewart when he said we don’t have to take our clothes off to have a good time, then get an Octatrack…

If not, then get an Digitakt!

… I mean just looking at the op’s avatar makes one wonder :spider_web:

It’s a bit old, yet still relevant and one of the most powerful samplers I’ve owned.

I still have pleasure to play with, there are so many ways to use it.
I’d love a mk3 though, that would enhance both sound and playability.

DTII, although very capable and having a nice sound, lacks a lot of OT use cases.

And this crossfader should be on every single Elektron machine.

I bought it and sold it. It’s fun.

Work out your worst case scenario. You buy it, the OT3 comes out the next day, and you’ve lost maybe $300. This scenario while painful, is clearly not terminal and once you’ve accepted the possible max loss, it’s plain sailing ahead.

We call that vintage now

And think about this: there’s no way that they carry over all the same routing and all the same FX algos and the conversion sound, because those systems are a little outdated or cumbersome- so even if OT2 loses value temporarily, it will likely gain it back in the long run (a few years later or more) due to the fact that OT2 will remain unparalleled and its own thing… Even if the consensus is that OT3 is all that and a bag of chips, I predict the weird flexible boldness of OT2 keeps value for many years

I think you should possibly get one unless you shouldn’t.
