Digitakt II Feature Requests

The filter for audio inputs. Just a “one-knob” parameter morphing from hp->bp->lp would be enough
to exclude sub lows or too bright highs from external synths. The empty slot in upper right corner in the external mixer page after the pan parameter is good place for this.

I suggest you a new approach to deal with a complex parameter but just in one UI slot. There are 5 different ways to change parameters just with one knob:

  • Just turn the knob
  • Func + turn the knob
  • Push and turn the knob
  • Func + push and turn the knob
  • Press the knob

EQ feature would be pretty useful for master signal but there are not enough space in pages for it. With those 5 ways (even with 4) it is possible to manage values of one complex parameter. It would work like this:

  • We have 2 or 3 slots for band EQ. Each of these slots stands for one customizable frequency band. When you push the knob you activate this parameter.
  • Func + turn: lets you select the frequency for this band.
  • Func + push and turn: for Q parameter
  • Turn the knob: to increase\decrease the volume of this band.
In UI you see all information about EQ-band just in one slot. Q and level can be shown as image (peak or pit \ wide or narrow) and frequency value for this band below the image (or shown when Func is pressed)

Of course, this complex behavior of knobs is not so good for common parameters which you tweak during music production and performing. But it’s pretty useful for more “low-level” features like EQ-ing on master, compressor etc. which you will not tweak when you perform your music.

Perform without [FUNC]

Perform mode is great. The perform mode should not need [FUNC], to make it easier to access while performing live. The preset & kit menu should be accessed by pressing [FUNC] + perform.

This could be an option enabled in the personalize menu.

  • page loop to be recalled when turning back on / saved
  • Parameters not to operator as FUNC+ snap to values when using prep mutes - I’d like to prep tracks for mutes, control params smoothly moving thru values whilst keeping FUNC held before muting selected tracks

Yes that would be awesome, this has gotten me a couple times when performing with the DT2.

too many seconds between octatrack and 2 to say mk

#1 I would like it when adding samples to slots to return to the menu/directory where i last added the previous sample (and not jumping back to the beginning of the directory/list all over having to scroll through all the samples again to get to it)

thanks

#2 Also being able to save/load BANKS or PATTERNS for reorganising projects without having to bounce between two projects all the time (Also in Transfer)

Considering Transfer: Would be nice if one could manage and rearrange patterns, (like once upon a time Elk Herd) or maybe have Transfer and the STANDALONE DT2 app communicate with each other: drag and drop stuff into place from e.g a saved BNK/PTN from transfer into the PROJECT slot in the STANDALONE editor? and also have the standalone App have a SONG menu / table where you can do the same by dragging and dropping in PTNS with a preview button to quickly check and a play button on the SNG that triggers the desired step (not start over from the top)

(As I like to use a PRJ like a set of tracks: Where every BNK is a new Track (A - H, meaning 8 Different tracks) I pretend one project to be half a set (in a hypothetical LiVE performance situation)

Thank you for your consideration

:star_struck:

#3 Also through external editor/manager (Rearranging of samples in slots A - H, or switching of TRK sequences, including their respected settings and SRC sample) For housekeeping purposes after one has found their own preferred perfected workflow and having to deal with ‘mess’ old projects.

  • FUNC + left or right arrows to move to previous or next sample having moved the sample source dial instead of menu diving - similar to octatrack

So it’s been a while but I’m just a simple DTII user, mono sampling still isn’t a thing and it should be :see_no_evil:

I would love to be able to add multiple samples to the sample slots at once. I have been building kits out of sample packs. So I will go in and add 16 kick drums, 16 snares, 16 hi hats, etc. I would love to be able to select multiple samples, or a whole folder of samples, and add them all to the sample slots at once, instead of going back and forth over and over and over to select each sample individually. For a whole folder of samples, it can take quite a while.

This one would help, I guess ?

Itd be cool if func + LFO depth snapped to divisions of whatever the LFO is targeting. If sample start point, divisions of 120, pitch to selected scale or chromatic, for example.

In general I’d rather have func+value snap to divisions of that value rather than just max/min/0 but I could be alone on this idk

Awesome idea.

yes …this is a real bummer to edit loaded samples…please add zoom in SRC

Lots of people haven’t understood the difference between a Mk2 of a product, and a version 2 (or II). They’ve become weirdly interchangeable

Very different things, and Elektron are intentional about this:
The Digitakt 2 was not a Mk2 - it’s far too different in many areas.
The Octatrack Mk2 was not a II - it’s basically the same device in a different case

MIDI TAG FOR PRESETS

Please add a MIDI tag in the save preset menu, useful when saving a midi template for other instruments

It’s done automatically for you if you’re saving a midi preset.

Please can we have the track preset naming feature that’s on the DN2 ?

Also, while we’re there, could we please have the default name initialised to the sample name, if not already deliberately set by the user. So, when on the naming menu, if the user hasn’t already chosen something, offer the sample name as the default preset name ?

I’d expect that the next DT2 update will bring it mostly up to par with DN2’s newest stuff (keytracking mod, rename, new lfo dest list, comb+…). If theyre feeling super generous we might even get polyphony :crossed_fingers:
